This mod does:

- Subtly extends palettes for grass, plants, rocks and terrain. Original colors are all available and possible.
- Adds a few new grass colors
- Adds several new snow colors
- Colors planet rings

This mod does not:

- Alter npc colors
- Alter ship colors
- Alter anything else (hopefully)
- Provide new biomes
- make the game good I am joking this is joke do not murder
- provide drastic palette changes, with the exception of some grass colors

Incompatible mods : any mods that edit these files is incompatible with this mod

- METADATA/SIMULATION/SOLARSYSTEM/COLOURS/BASECOLOURPALETTE.MBIN
- METADATA/SIMULATION/SOLARSYSTEM/BIOMES/[biome]/[biome]COLOURPALETTE.MBIN
where [biome] is BARREN, DEAD, FROZEN, LUSH, RADIOACTIVE, SCORCHED, and TOXIC

Compatible mods :

- Everything else, including biome generation mods, like Shaidak's, as long as they don't include any of the above files.

Included Files :

- SubtlePaletteExtension_unsaturatedrings : this version has rings that look closer to vanilla, but still colorful. The colors are lighter and unsaturated than the vivid version.
- SubtlePaletteExtension_vividrings : this is the original version with the intense rings.
You must pick ONE of these files.

- SubtlePaletteExtensionDeadSaturated_addon : this contains a separate palette for the ground of dead biomes, with increased saturation and a bit of lightness, to make dead biomes a bit less grayish/brownish.
This is an addon, you can include it along with one of the two main files.

Installation:

Version 1.1:
To install copy either "SubtlePaletteExtension_unsaturatedrings" or "SubtlePaletteExtension_vividrings" to the No Man's Sky\GAMEDATA\PCBANKS\MODS folder, and delete or rename the file DISABLEMODS.TXT from the PCBANKS folder.
To preference, you can also add the file "SubtlePaletteExtensionDeadSaturated_addon" in addition to either of the other two.

Long description :

This mod very subtly extends the existing grass, ground and plant palettes from 1, 4, or 16 colors to 64 colors on all biomes except exotic ones.

The additions are small color variations, perceptually close to the original colors, in the hopes of adding subtle variants to grass, plants, leaves, trees, rocks, and terrain, so when the game picks colors for a planet there would be more options, without anything too jarring.

I added a few new hues for grass/lush, snow/frozen and some terrain, with varying degrees of intensity. Purple grass for example is saturated and intense, but purplish terrain is subdued and close to the original.
Snow can be blue-white (original), purple, pink and mint/cyan. Avoiding yellowish hues for reasons (and it didn't look very nice anyway), there wasn't much choice for distinct colors here :/ Still, each has 16 subtly different variants, so I hope it will be ok.

Additionally, I colored planet rings with a large range of colors, to make up for the Colored Planet Rings mod, that this is unfortunately incompatible with. Unsaturated or darker rings are possible, it's not always dramatic.

All the original colors are kept, this only adds extra variations.

This is kind of a personal-use mod, I intend to tweak it as I play if I see something too garish or unintentional.

Screenshots include an example of two unmodified and modified palettes, to better show the degree of variability this mod adds. One is about the least amount of variability, the other about the most.

Palettes altered are : "grass", "plant", "leaf", "wood", "rock", "sand", "rockSaturated", "rockDark", "rockLight", "Snow", "Cave", "grassAlt", and "planetRing". Everything else is identical to vanilla, this means ships, npcs, structures, weapons, etc.

Water and sky colors remain unmodified, sadly.
