Well, I figured out why the CPU usage was so high. One of my functions was misbehaving. I've told it to behave like a normal function. A fix is up now on the files page.
Edit: Source code is up on github. Find it here: https://github.com/alechielke/NMS-Tweaker
How is the status of support for older game versions? I have a copy of each version and am currently collecting mods for them. Could this work for older versions like pre-Foundation, Foundation, etc.? Am not asking for you to make this work, simply if it works. :)
Not likely, since certain updates to the game break compatibility with mods until those mods are themselves updated, I doubt it would work backwards that easily.
Windows defender really dislikes this, calls it a trojan. is there no way to write this application so that it plays by the rules and doesn't have to do shady stuff that triggers warnings from safety software?
Not without me learning a new programming language and rewriting the thing from scratch. Sadly the programming language I'm using for this application is also easily used to create viruses, which is why some antivirus programs block every application using it.
idk what to think about it after i downloaded this it said a day later that i got 2 trojans the .exe file and another file that from an program that i have for about 4 years
the false positive warnings are common with these kind of files because of the functions it is providing. if someone uploaded the source code to github or made it public otherwise chances are high that this file is clean and just a false positive. if there is a trojan or virus in here some ´infected´ user will blame this file here on nexus, the acc will be deleted, and so on.
mistrusting is a good thing in the internet - no question about that but some ppl already used this ´trainer´.
or download some trainers for games, no matter what games and check these .exe´s with a scanner... many of them will pop up as a trojan/virus but it´s just a hook for the game.exe. hooking in a .exe is a common thing with trojans /viruses and that is why a AV-software warns you. trainers hook in too
The guy gave you the source code. The mod is uploaded on NexusMods. And you still question it because of some useless program that calls itself anti-malware. Please do some googling and learn what a damn false positive is. And don't forget to put on your tin-foil hat.
On-topic: Thank you for developing the little app. I really hope this will grow and gain the support of many individual modders around here. The fact that I have to choose between 2 mods just because they modify the same file but not the same characteristic was always a big turn off for me so a feature for merging mods would be epic. Aleluia for ScriptMerger or else Witcher would've sucked a little :)
The tech stacking doesn't seem to be working, it was the only reason I tried to use this mod at all. Greshloks tech stacking is broken and so I assume thats affected yours. It may need to be individually updated for 1.55
Actually for some reason it's not there anymore, it was there like a day ago, I read this post before looking for it. It was around the disclaimer I think.
I just realized that its not working for me for some reason. I made the file and then added it to my mods and none of the stuff is working as intended. I can mainly tell because no tech stacking is working and my scanning still takes forever. Not sure what the problem is.
Could you take the file to the workshop folder next to NMS tweaker.exe and drag it onto psarctool, then drag the mbin file that creates onto mbincompiler. Open the exml file that creates with notepad. Could you tell me what value MaxNumSameGroupTech has? Should be almost at the top of the file.
Says <Property name="MaxNumSameGroupTech" value="64" /> Like its supposed to but still doesn't work as far as I can tell. Not sure what the problem is as there are no mod conflicts so far that I can see.
Uh no. I have over 40 working mods and its not a conflict problem as I have no other mods that edit the globals file. I have a list of all the mods I use and what they edit.
You can't say its either my fault or my fault and there is no possible way its a problem with the mod. I have every other mod working fine including when not trying to get this one to work SSOOR which modifies the same file so it couldn't be a conflict otherwise that mod wouldn't work either.
Could you try disabling all your other mods and trying the mod then? There are a lot of mods that edit gcgameplayglobals and not all of them let you know about it
I fixed it. Just a heads up that if you put it in any directory that has an apostrophe it will break the script and it will pak the whole directory thus making the file not work. I had put it in my No Man's Sky folder which caused that.
I think I am missing something. I start it up and the only things I get to tweek are Analysis Scanner Speed, Multitool Scanner Range and Starship Interact Range. So what else do I need to do?
Thank you Penitence, I did have 1.01 instead of 1.03, but now my security software deletes the exe file. I'll have to figure out how to make an exception for that now.
Depending on your antivirus you can either do it from the popup notification warning you about the file and you can whitelist it from there, or after it's already been quarantined go to that section in the av program and remove/whitelist it from there, should have some option like that.
