There's a known bug right now where the terrain doesn't really stick after a reload, placing down a base, or doing anything which could cause terrain LODs to unload. This might be due to planet size differences, but I'll be taking a look over the coming few days. If its because of overrides in the planetary generation for purple systems, I'll probably shift the mod to an NMS.py based release instead of using MBINs if it turns out to be more stable.
making a base computer causes me to immediately fall through the ground on a mountainous planet. also noticed that the grass tends to hover above the surface, not sure if that might be part of it. I am in a normal save and have already completed the missions for the purple systems
Can confirm you can and will fall through the ground in custom games. After hitting a poi scanner/beacon it started happening. Though going into orbit with a ship and then reentering the planet atmosphere and landing seems to fix it.
There used to be a mod in like 2016 or so that made planets bigger, I wonder if the method they used for that back in the day would be at all relevant today...
Thank god finally. I returned to this game to play with the new terrain gen only go find I have to beat the game's boring ass quests just to see it. Finally I can actually just, play the game.
Edit: seems to work on normal, survival and custom starts but if you go to creative (or skip tutorial I guess in custom) you'll fall through the floor on the starting planet. Not sure if it happens every time.
Hell yeah! Exactly what I've been waiting for, since I'd learnt the new generation is purple stars only. What a f*#@ing joke to tease it so heavily in the trailer, and then so heavily limit it. Now I don't even care about exploring non-purples at all. What's the point, if they're straight up worse?
I really wish they would've done a universe reset instead. the generation has so much potential but limiting it to purple stars where there is always a chance of dissonance is kind of annoying tbh.
Would it be possible to have a version which doesn't allow gas giants outside purple systems? (Just so they can still have something distinctive about them...) But I understand if that isn't possible.
