could this or a new mod be worked where when you scan a ship it will list the part names you could get when the ship was scrapped for parts? it would be nice to see what you want in the fabricator and then go after it.
or could it also be used to form a list of ship names (pride of freds scurge) etc and what parts they would give when scrapped so all you have to do when you know what part you need is to just scan the ship normally, looking for the name? TY
ah ok, how about when you access the fabricator and it shows what parts you have, could that be used outside the fabricator, its own UI? or to show in this mod so no "??" its shows all pictures with how many you have of each in current storage? TY
Again, no new functionality can be added. Those pages work in the same way pages for regular items do, these also do not show you how many items you have and don't show proper items unless you obtain them first.
I went and added support for the shuttle type ship parts added by Shuttle Fix for Starship Fabricatorusing the lua script version of that mod and this one.
my edited script is on my GitHub Repo as I figured that posting the entire thing here would be overkill. Also as a side note I had renamed the file when I built the script using AMUMSS as I didn't want to risk any dependency issues but it shouldn't really matter as long as the shuttles mod is either loaded first or is built together (combined mod) with my edited lua file. but for reference I just named as such:
But again this really only matters if your not creating a merged mod.
Regarding removing the Shuttle Fix mod or switching to say the Solar or exotic one then you'd have to switch back to the standard version and likely loose the unlocked Shuttle entries... unfortunately the entries use the added object IDs from the Shuttle Fix mod and therefore can only exist with them so if you want to be able to track all other ship types (Solar, Exotic, Shuttle, Etc) then you will have to convince Hello Games to not hard cap the ship customizer to 4 types as I would gladly make an all in one version but as it stands I see no point as only one addition ship type can be modded in.
Regarding making separate Solar, Exotic, Shuttle, Etc. versions you are on your own as I only use the Shuttle Fix mod but if or when Hello Games removes the hard limit (...or someone finds a way around it) then I'll gladly make an all in one version but as it stands I see no point as only one addition ship type can be modded in.
You are free to modify and recompile the LUA script for personal use. And you're right, posting the whole script here would cause problems, I would just hide the comment stating I did not grant permission to redistribute my script like that. Pointing to personal github is fine by me.
And yes, there will be no "compatibility patches" for other ship building mods for the reasons you stated and one additional simple reason: I could not be bothered updating my mod for every change made by others in their mods. I created this mod only as a supplement to the vanilla experience: when HG adds new ship parts or enables new ship types to be assembled to the base game, I'll update this mod accordingly.
Yeah I pretty much have the same opinion on the whole compat patches thing as it's pretty messy and I only really shared the one I made because it seemed like a harmless enough thing to do and didn't require any exceptionally messy edits.
