This tool creates an uncompressed mod for the MODELS\SPACE\NEXUS\PARTS\ geometry (PC) files, which have been identified as the cause for the lag/stutter that occurs when leaving a planet's atmosphere and should mitigate that issue.
This is a highly modified version of a script shared on the NMS Modding Discord to make it easier to use. (Credit to LazMonk).
This script requires: PSARC to run. (Included in each archive.)
Extract each download to their own folders to avoid issues. The script takes into consideration where it is placed and will account for this.
Both the executable tool and the script will check for the existence of DISABLEMODS.TXT and rename it if it exists. They will also check for the existence of the MODS folder within PCBANKS, creating it if it does not exist.
NoLagLeavingPlanets.exe (Windows Console Exe - dot Net 4.8.1)
Run the tool and within the folder dialog that opens locate your No Man's Sky\GAMEDATA\PCBANKS folder. The tool will do the rest without further interaction required. Once complete it will inform you that the mod generation was successful and where it has been installed.
Press enter key to exit.
Alternative Script Execution (Windows .bat file)
Edit "PCBANKS_PATH.txt" and insert YOUR NMS Path to where PCBANKS is.
IMPORTANT: Ensure there is NO trailing slash (\) at the end of the path!
Default Steam installation location:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\No Man's Sky\GAMEDATA\PCBANKSCustom Steam installation location:
E:\Steam\steamapps\common\No Man's Sky\GAMEDATA\PCBANKSOnce you have completed the above step, simply double-click NoLagLeavingPlanets.bat to create the mod. It will automatically be installed in the correct location for you!
