About this mod

Have a mod you really like but it's outdated at this point ? This simple method might be exactly what you need !

I was browsing the post section of a currently outdated mod (HyperStack), where :

NooBzPoWaH had posted a quick and easy tutorial on how to manually update an outdated mod.
I followed the steps and it worked ! I am using HyperStack as we speak.
I have tried on a different mod and the pak file ran through psarc didn't provide a lua file I am not sure why,
(see the post section for the answer) so it may not work for all mods but it may work for a lot of them !

The mod used with this tutorial:

HyperStack

(I've asked permission to post the guide)

"There are different ways to go by to unpack a .pak file.
Here's one, you can use : PSArcTool,
just drag the file onto PSArcTool.exe to unpack it (let's say you've got two folders, one with PSArcTool.exe and another one with your .pak file, just left click the .pak file, drag it onto PSArcTool.exe, release the left click and you should get the two .lua files and the files modified by the Mod, .mbin files, in the folder where your .pak is).

So now you should have the .lua files to use with AMUMSS.
Which is an awesome tool, it's a lot simpler to use that it looks when seeing the description page at first.

Unzip "AMUMSS-3.6.0W-957-3-6-0W-1591222575.zip" in a folder called, let's say, AMUMSS, not on C drive.
Put both .lua files in the "ModScript" AMUMSS' folder, run "BUILDMOD.bat", let it do its thing on first run, answer whatever you feel like to the questions asked, then get the new .pak file (that can be renamed to whatever) in "CreatedModPAKs"."

(Edit: NooBzPoWaH had cleared up the no lua being generated issue for me with the other mod:)

"As you were wondering why you didn't find an .lua file from an old Mod, let me help you with that.

The script (.lua file) has to be made by the Mod's author, it doesn't come automatically when you're making a Mod.
More and more authors are making some for their old or new Mods since AMUMSS is becoming a standard tool in the modding community, but of course there are still quite a few old Mods (and some new ones also) that doesn't provide any.

Users should ask (nicely) Mod's Authors to upload one when it's missing, as it can be really helpful for merging purposes as well, and if they need help to do so they can reach out to the NMS Modding Discord community."
