I have used Vortex before in Skyrim and found that its utilities are a lot more elaborate (no surprise considering how far that modding scene has evolved). While this modding scene stil seems to be in its nascent years.
At this point in time (23/04/2019), with regards to mod stability and direct influence on the game, how does this Mod Manager stack up against Vortex? Please answer in a way the common mortal can understand, for as much as I enjoy modding, I'm not well versed in the technical side of things, haha!
I'm sorry for the late reply. This Mod Manager is very basic. It just lists everything you have in the mods folder and allows you do enable/disable and delete them. It just works - as Todd Howard would have said it.
I would love to use this, but with the latest version of NMS (v.1.3 Atlas Rises) it doesn't locate my PCBANKS folder correctly. When hitting the ellipsis (3 dots) it continually wants to go to D:/GAMEDATA/PCBANKS. I have the Steam version installed and that is not the location of the PCBANKS folder. I have tried running it as admin and putting the app in several locations including directly IN the PCBANKS folder (lol).
How did you set it up? Did it auto locate the D:/GAMEDATA/PCBANKS folder?
Edit: The way it works is that it checks for the GamePath + "\Binaries\NMS.exe". Do you have the NMS executable in that folder? The program should prompt you for a manual path if it can not find the NMS executable.
OK, Disclaimer.. I am running Windows 10. (just in case thats an issue)
OK, I downloaded the app again 1. threw it on the desktop 2. Launched it and clicked the ellipsis 3. Again, opened C:\GAMEDATA (there is a PCBANKS folder in that location)
Your app is actually creating "C:\GAMEDATA\PCBANKS\MODS\ DISABLED" folders respectively because I def. don't have those folders like that on my rig.
My NMS.exe is located in " D:\Steam\steamapps\common\No Man's Sky\Binaries" I do not keep steam game repository on my C: drive. Only OS is on the C:drive.
So, what I am not getting, is a box to choose the location of the NMS.exe.
I ran a test, 1. changed the compatibility to, Win 8, and then win 7 and had the same issue 2. THEN, copied the folder containing the manager app from my Desktop to the root of D:, and still had the same issue. This time the app created "D:\GAMEDATA\PCBANKS\MODS\DISABLED" folders.
Is there anything else you would like me to try? It's very weird as I have never had issue with Nexus Mod Manager or any other managers I have run the auto locate files/folders.
Hope the above helps figure some things out.
EDIT: I do not need NMS running correct? (I dont think I do...just making sure)
I run Windows 10 and also have my steam library on my D:\ drive so that shouldn't be an issue. I'm still not sure what is causing the problem but I'm going to create a work-around when I get home! Should be in about 9 hours.
Now THAT worked... Once I located the folder, everything started working fine. I did get an error message about the folder DISABLED not being preset but the app created it after clicking continue, deactivating a mod and reactivating it.
I also noticed that your app creates a NMS_BACKUP folder when you save a backup...
Very nice..
Thank you so much for your continued work and support of this. A mod manager was really needed for NMS.
Are you placing the _MOD.x.pak file inside the No Man's Sky\GAMEDATA\PCBANKS folder? Have you restarted the Mod Manager or clicked the Save button after placing it there? I can get it to show up fine.
It works, is for delete shader folder or check .pak right? Would be great if after enabling/disabling the mods the shader folder was automatically deleted
I'm experiencing a bug: I use NMSE with one single mod at the moment, the one for the stack inventory.
If i use your launcher, without disabling any mods, the game starts correctly with NMSE but in game i've not the values i've setted in the .ini of the stack mod.
If i launch the game directly from NMSE like always, it works normally.
It's like through your launcher the game starts with NMSE but doesn't read the parameters.
Not sure why that is happening since NMSE is run like a shortcut but I don't think there's much I can do about it. It's probably a bug with NMSE.
I'll do some research anyway to see if I can find the cause.

Do you know if deleting the shader folder has any impact on startup? If not, then I guess I could do that. But otherwise clicking the (...) button is quick to get access to it!
@Martanz, yes, (...) is useful, but an automatic delete would be great. There is an impact on the startup because the shaderfolder is recreated, but it's minimum, at least for me. Think other things go extracted during the game, so we experience fps drop etc.
I'm currently working on an update I've added automatic removal of shadercache when you save and I'm also testing a save backup option that will ask every time you edit mods if you wanna backup the current save and if the game crashes withing 200 seconds it will also ask if you want to restore the backup. I experienced first hand how minor edits can mess up hours of gameplay so I hope it will be useful! (Luckily I managed to get my save back).

Is there a way around this please?
Thanks.
What if i've installed NMSE? It will start with it?
Edit: There was a bug with the (...) button but it has been fixed now. If you have any problems with it then just redownload the file.
Btw, really good work! Endorsed

Should be out later today or sometime tomorrow!
