I'm looking for this exact mod, only cruise control though. I found a similar mod that has cruise control but it also changes the vanilla speeds and I dont know how to change that.
Any chance you'll be updating this so I can try it out?
I downloaded today (Mar 30) and I am finding that the hover works fine ... in-space cruise control, no ... push "w" till you are at max speed, let go, and the "space break" seems to kick right in as the great forces of friction and drag in outer space work against the hull of the starship. Is there an added key I need to push?
Added info: when you let go of "w", the current speed holds ... for about 1 second ... then drops down to 0. It's as if HG has broken your cruise control
I have looked into it and I can't seem to make it work as it should. You can use cruise control while in space but if you go above 250u/s (at least in the ship I use) and/or turns the ship in another direction will start to break. I don't know why you can't go full speed in space since it looks like you should be able to when I look through the the file I edited. If you want to try a version without turning breaks in space I can make one and upload it, but I will become pretty difficult to fly your ship or at least until you get used to it maybe.
I agree that the version you suggest might be clunky ... I wonder if HG has somehow permanently broken the ability to mod how their spaceships function when flying. That's a shame if they have.
Sorry for the very late reply. It's doesn't seem to be possible to "remove" reverse while in-planet flight, minimum speed is set to 0 (which allow hover). It just came to mind that it may be possible if minimum speed is set to 1 but then there is no hover, if you are ok with that I'll make
I too would like a version without reverse on planets. Something around a minimum speed of 10 or less would be perfect. Everything else works great! Thanks for making this useful mod!
Yeah...it was updated today (10th Dec) but I can't get below 50 an still no hover. Will try a New Start and see if that does it. Edit: Unfortunately hover doesn't work with a new start either Still needs some work...…
Thanks for the very important mod. These features of hover and cruise are among the top useful ones I wish to use, so it is great you had the effort and drive to add these to NMSky. I tested the cruise plus hover on the new SYNTHESIS update from Hello Games in Steam. The hover does not work by trying to slowdown to 0 u/s with the "s" button on a PC keyboard, but instead a lower floor limit exists, say 50 u/s, below which the ship will not go, so the craft is always moving forward. Different saves and different ships all hit a lower limit greater than 0. Could you place in the mod description the file(s) that it modifies? I suspect GCSPACESHIPGLOBALS.GLOBAL.MBIN but other people and myself would want to know for sure as well. Good work on your first mod but Hello Games improvemenst do make everyone's mods hard to maintain. I hope you can keep your mod working with newest NMSky versions! Thanks again.
Hi, your mod makes flying in game way better, I'm having one question or request can you make an optional file with your mod+hover mode, at moment hover mod do not work with your mod, I think they share the same file. Thank you very much...
ooteje is pretty much right. What ever speed you are at when you let go of w (forward. unless key-bound to some other key) it keeps that speed. It will start breaking if you turn though.

at moment hover mod do not work with your mod, I think they share the same file.
