Since BBS v.3.84 : Increased the scanner's range ( x 8 ), from spaceship and visor, so the unknown building's icon ( x 2 ) should pop up more often.
**************************************
BBS is modifying "GCBUILDINGGLOBALS.GLOBAL.EXML".
**************************************
DEPRECATED FOR NOW !
I added some .lua files (script), for every variations to the archive, to be used with "AMUMSS", so you can now merge them with any other one modifying the same file 'GCBUILDINGGLOBALS.GLOBAL.MBIN' or update the Mod yourself when i'm not around.
You would have to choose a lua file from the Mod you'd want to merge and one from BBS, put them both in the "ModScript" AMUMSS' folder, run "BUILDMOD.bat", answer Y(es) to the first 2 questions and whatever you want for the last ones, then get the pak file in "CreatedModPAKs", to use instead of the ones coming from our two Mods, (that can be renamed to whatever).
That merge needs to be done again every time a Mod is updating !
Updating the Mod (in case i'm not around to do so) is the same process as above with only one of our .lua file instead of two or more.
**************************************
Place the "_Better_Buildings_Scans_x8" folder (or one of its variations)
in your InstallPath\No Man's Sky\GAMEDATA\MODS folder,
and NOT in the old path No Man's Sky\GAMEDATA\PCBANKS\MODS folder. Since it has changed with "World Part 2" i repeat : NOT in the old path No Man's Sky\GAMEDATA\PCBANKS\MODS folder.
**************************************
The Mod is provided as a patch/snippet (EXML) not as a replacement (MBIN)
Scratch that, i had it all wrong, it's not a patch/snippet, it's basically the same as a replacement the way i did it, my bad !
**************************************
For more informations about the new Modding system you can read this : ( Thanks & Credits to GumskBF ) "NMS Modding after 5.50"
Is this mod same with "Auto Scanner Plus" mod? i want to change max building that we can see because sometimes when i first fly to a planet there is 3-4 even more icons and then they just disappear after i enter the planet. Which part should i change for that?
Note: I asked the same thing to other mod author too because i don't know which one of you appear online the most 😅
EDIT: I determined my problem was not because of this mod. I don't know yet what caused it though. It's possibly a game bug.
I tried this mod out, then decided to remove it. After I started the game up again, almost everything I pointed the reticle at said "STEEL: Reinforced". My other mods aren't anything that radically change the game and I never had a problem with them.
Next time, I'm going to make sure I back up my saves before trying a new mod.
You what ?!? "STEEL: Reinforced" ??? I'm afraid i never heard about such bug as of yet.
This is also a very simple Mod that doesn't change anything radically. Are you sure you didn't play with any other Mods recently or is your game well up to date or did you make sure you're not using an other Mod modifying "GCBUILDINGGLOBALS.GLOBAL.MBIN" (if so you'd need to merge them using AMUMSS, have a look at the sticky) ?
And yeah that's a golden rule : always backup your saves before trying new Mods.
I disabled/enabled my mods all the time depending on if they needed an update, and my save game was fine. I never had any problem until I disabled your mod. I tried everything, I re-enabled your mod, I flew to all the planets in the system, I disabled all mods, nothing would give me the proper names back.
I checked my other mods, none of them modify the same file as your mod.
Here's a pic of me looking at a rock: https://imgur.com/a/OyVMxMX
That's so weird, my Mod is only modifying BUILDING stuff related from a starship point of view (four little value changes to "UnknownBuildingRange", "MaxIconRange" building icons that is, "MinShipScanBuildings" and "MaxShipScanBuildings"). Nothing to do with rock, plants, fauna and any other icons. That's dealt by other file(s) than the one i'm modifying.
If there was such a bug for everyone after over 5k downloads I'm guessing i should know about it by now.
Maybe if Babscoole's passing by he might have some insight to share but on my side i'm sorry but i'm running out of ideas to provide better help.
Ok, I figured out it's not your mod because it happened again on a new save. I just have mods that make it easier to open containers. The "STEEL: Reinforced" thing doesn't last and it goes back to normal, but it has happened more than once. Since it happened also without mods, it must be a bug in the base game.
Another bug involving launch thrusters has happened a few times and I've confirmed it's a game bug, so I'm pretty sure "STEEL: Reinforced" is also a game bug. It just happened to show up when I uninstalled your mod.
You're welcome and yeah feel free to do so. Just so you know you could have just answered in the same thread by clicking on the "Reply" button below, just to keep the conversation grouped like (no biggy hey, just saying...).
I'm glad you like it but there's no need for an update since "GCBUILDINGGLOBALS.GLOBAL.MBIN" hasn't been modified with the latest HG's update, as stated in the sticky above (Mod Status).
You should be able to play with it without any issue (unless you're using an other Mod modifying the same file oc).
Woo, I haven't played NMS in soooo loooong, lol! But gonna check out OMEGA and see what's up, hehe. LOVE this mod! Makes searching for buildings so much less tedious, lol! ♥
Thanks for all you mods, I'm using all of them, they are fantastic,. however this mod doesn't work for me on the ship. The visor is ok, from the ship I always get one icon not all the times, like the vanilla game. Can Instanteneous Scan by FiatOPax be the issue here?
I'm glad you're enjoying them but i'm sorry to read about the issue you seem to have with this one.
The trouble won't be with "Instanteneous Scan", FiatPax is modifying "GCGAMEPLAYGLOBALS.GLOBAL.MBIN" where i'm modifying "GCBUILDINGGLOBALS.GLOBAL.MBIN" so they can't conflict with each other. Maybe you've got an other Mod that's modifying "GCBUILDINGGLOBALS.GLOBAL.MBIN" as well (in wich case you'd need to merge them with the lua file i'm providing via AMUMSS or manually), i didn't see any in the other Mods you've been endorsing though. Also, the thing is with ship you don't see many at the same time as often as on foot with the visor, i'm not really sure why but that's a fact, might depends on planets.
By the way Thanks for all your endorsement given, that's really nice of you !!!
P.S. : Come to think of it, there shouldn't be any conflicting Mods otherways you wouldn't see more buildings icons with the visor. I guess you might just need to wait to stumble into a more crowded type of planet i'm afraid.
Yeah. I think it needs more crowded planets, yesterday two icons were showed on a small moon, so maybe it's working. I'll try with AMUMSS anyway. Thanks
Yep it should work just fine. With nearly 150 downloads i should know by now if it wasn't working properly, believe me... lol.
Did you make sure not to be using an other Mod modifying "GCBUILDINGGLOBALS.GLOBAL.MBIN" ? (in which case you'd need to merge them together following the little tutorial i posted in the sticky above) And did you think of removing, renaming or deleting the "DISABLEMODS.TXT" file from your : InstallPath\steamapps\common\No Man's Sky\GAMEDATA\PCBANKS folder ?
The other mods im using are 'exosolars beyond base building' 'planetary flight fixes' 'exosolars asteroid ribbons' 'balanced ships' 'dudsky terrafirma' 'dudsky colours' 'expsolars expanse' 'exosolars abyss' and 'exosolars stratos' As far as im aware none of these mods alter the building file. I altered the file name so it would load top and it still doesnt work.

Edit 02/12/2025 :
Here comes BBS v.5.52 updated and still compatible with :
NMS "WORLDS PART 2" v.5.55
( Steam's Build 17336353 )
**************************************
Since BBS v.3.84 :
Increased the scanner's range ( x 8 ), from spaceship and visor,

To merge Mods with "AMUMSS" it's real easy !
First of all install/update your .NET to the latest 6.0 Desktop :
https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download/dotnet/6.0
(at the time i'm writing this it's ".NET Desktop Runtime 6.0.33")
You would have to choose a lua file from the Mod you'd want to merge and one from BBS,
put them both in the "ModScript" AMUMSS' folder, run "BUILDMOD.bat", answer Y(es) to the first 2 questions
and whatever you want for the last ones, then get the pak file in "CreatedModPAKs",
to use instead of the ones coming from our two Mods,
(that can be renamed to whatever).
For more details or updated ones check out "How to use AMUMSS".
That merge needs to be done again every time a Mod is updating !

Have Fun Gals & Guys !
Still one of my most fav and essential mods!! Makes searching for buildings/POIs so much less tedious, and more fun/exciting, oddly enough, lol! ♥

Sorry for the trouble.
Since i haven't been playing this latest expedition (13) yet i couldn't tell about eventual game's bugs.
Thanks for the edit part of your 1st com, not everybody thinks about setting things straight.

Only took HG eight years! Better late than never, amirite?! LOL! :P ♥

I altered the file name so it would load top and it still doesnt work.
So to make it easier i've increased even more the values,
x 8 instead of x 2 for the range and max icons to 4 instead of 3 previously.
As you can see in that pic here's three unknown buildings icons showing up :
I hope it will make it easier for you to find some now.
By the way sorry for the late reply, i was too busy modding Cyberpunk 2077. ^^
