1.12.1 version of this mod tested working in game version 2.13.
For compatibility with other mods that edit the NMS_REALITY_GCPRODUCTTABLE.MBIN file, see either the Distinct Planetary Charts Compatibility-anator or the Auto Modbuilder scripts available in the optional files section.
AMUMSS and Compatibility-anator should work for any game version, as they only make changes to other files. If Hello Games modify the NMS_REALITY_GCPRODUCTTABLE.MBIN file in an update, the following applies
AMUMSS built mods will need rebuilding against the new base game files.
Compatibility-anator will need to be rerun on the incompatible mod once that mod author updates their mod with the new base game changes.
Here's the new Distinct Planetary Charts Compatibility-anator!
Updated file to version 2.09. Now handles path names with spaces correctly.
Now you can merge my distinct icons with your favourite stack size mod (or any other mod that modifies the NMS_REALITY_GCPRODUCTTABLE.MBIN file). Be aware this isn't a general purpose tool to merge mods, it will only change the required values in another mods NMS_REALITY_GCPRODUCTTABLE.MBIN file to find my new icons.
Instructions for use are in the mod description page. Let me know what you think or if you have any trouble. To run the program you'll need Microsoft DotNet 4.7.2 which most people will already have probably.
Sorry this took so long. Spent hours figuring out why it made my game crash on loading a save, only to eventually find that it was crashing even with mods completely disabled and required a PC reboot.
The instructions don't specify which folder to put the mod file in. I'm guessing its "originalpak". When i put this mod (https://www.nexusmods.com/nomanssky/mods/1119) in there and run the program, it crashes. EDIT: You should look into creating a script for this fantastic tool: https://www.nexusmods.com/nomanssky/mods/957
Make sure you put the compatibility-anator folder at the root level of your drive. If you put it in the mods directory then it will error out due to the directory level being too deep. Once I did that it worked like a charm.
I will definitely look into that. Writing my own was a pain in the butt, as my skills are more in databases than programming. Not sure why it crashed with that mod, I'll check it out.
It shouldn't have to go in the root of the drive, but on thinking about it, it might break if anywhere in the path contains spaces. I'll check that out too.
Updated instructions to include where to copy the .pak file.
@MikkelManDK I checked using the mod you said was a problem and it's working now, so I suspect you might have been experience the "path with spaces" problem that I've now corrected. Now to look at the scripting for the tool you mentioned. That looks very interesting indeed.
Now that Synthesis genuinely links a different texture to each chart type, you might just re-release this mod with the 4 textures renamed accordingly. It will solve all the compatibility issues you had to deal with in the description of this mod. On my side, I prefer your textures to the new default one and will use them in my private game. Thanks for this mod.
Thx for your work but it doesn't work for me. I tried the new version of your mod but it doesn't work. Should i download Auto modbuilder ? I don't know. I rename disablemods , now it's enablemods. And the file PAK is in mods like before.
Does the planetary charts show the default icons or just blank icons? Some screenshots might help me see what's going on. Also what other pak files do you have in the MODS folder? There might be something that is conflicting that the mod author hasn't noted on their page.
Quick question: what about various stack sizes? I got spoiled with 10x older version and kind of don't want to go back to vanilla stacking with newest mod version :)
I've updated the 10x stacking old version since you said you still use that one.
You should check out AMUMSS (https://www.nexusmods.com/nomanssky/mods/957) though. It can build a customised pak file to combine multiple mods that use it, greatly improving compatibility between mods that edit the same file. I've provided a version in the optional files section that includes a AMUMSS lua script.
You might also try the Compatibility-anator. There are 10x stacking mods available on Nexus and the Compatibility-anator will merge my mod into any of those. Just make sure the stacking mod in question is updated for 2.09.3, as there appears to be some changes to the data file.
We need an update of your mod because since the last update of hello games, everything is bad. please Nous avons besoin d'une mise à jour de votre mod car depuis la dernière mise à jour de hello games, tout va mal. s'l vous plaît
What problem are you having? Everything seems good in my game using the non beta release branch. Which install method did you use, and what other mods have you got installed?
Also check that the DISABLEMODS file in the PCBANKS game folder hasn't been recreated. Some of the game updates recreate that file and if it's there it will disable all mods from functioning.
On second look, there were some changes to the file regarding stacking and recipes so I've updated the mod for 1.12. Thanks for letting me know there was a problem.
I was wondering if you have any idee why the difrent icons that your mod added have disapeard. What i eman is the mod still does what it needs to do ,give 4 stacks of fifrent types like , settlements , factorys etcetc.
its only that teh 4 icons are now all looking liek the basic one again, its not that abiggy , i just need to write down what space station sells what charts, and keep tab on what stack of charts is where in my inventory
i did check the other mods used and all the mods state on there coresponding page on nexus are using difrebnt files so i am a bit of a loss, i did remove almost all files that i ahve minus a few to see if they were conflicting ,but even with only 4 mods witch all use difrent modified files , teh icons are still basic.
maybey you or others can shed some light on that
thx in advance and thx for that great mod made me getting the crafting plans i needed mutch easyer .
First check that the DISABLEMODS file in the PCBANKS game folder hasn't been recreated. One of the game updates recreated that file and if it's there it will disable all mods from functioning. The different types of charts is a standard feature of the game, as are them all having the same icon. I made the different icons so we could actually tell them apart without having to read the description.
If it's not that, let me know as this has happened once before where the game stopped loading the texture format I was using, so I had to resave them in another format.
Oki I did check the folder but no disable mods file present, when I start the game it says that there are mods in the game so I know that part is ok. Still, after restarting the game the icons are still the basic version , even if the game shows 4 stacks in my inventory,so I can assume that the textures are replaced again as you stated I also double-checked all the other mods I have installed, and none of them alter the NMS_REALITY_GCPRODUCTTABLE.MBIN file. I do hope you will get it to work again, it is a great mod.
I loaded up my save game and the icons were displaying as they should in both main and experimental branches.
Can I ask which method you used to install the mod please? The default main file, the AMUMSS script or the Compatibility-anator? Since you listed that none of your other mods clash with the NMS_REALITY_GCPRODUCTTABLE.MBIN I'd assume you're using the main file, but if you're not, could you quickly try that file by itself (should be only S76_BeyondMod_PlanetaryDataIcons.pak in the MODS folder) and let me know if that works for you? You only need to move the pak files except mine somewhere else temporarily, load a save where you have planetary charts and see if the icons show, then exit immediately and move your pak files back.
It sounds to me like either the game isn't implementing the changes the mod makes, or something else is clashing with the file without stating that on their mod page. What other mods are you using when it isn't working. I can check them out and see if it's something about those mods in combination that's breaking it for you.
i used the Compatibility-anator to merge your file with StackMultiplierXx by slapyousilly. that was the only file that uses the NMS_REALITY_GCPRODUCTTABLE.MBIN.
But also something weird happened I removed all mod files as you said except the 1 stackmultiplierxx file that was merged with yours. i then run the game ,and your icons poped up as it should with there own symbol. iI then installed my other mods 5 at teh time ,and then run teh game to see if teh icons has chanegd again, witch didnt so evrything was fine. The thing i find weird is after i copied all the mods back to my mod folder ,and started the game ,teh icons where still as it should for some reason. I didnt put in other mods or left mods out, just teh mods i had before. so i am wondering if placing your merged file first and then started the game, then logged off after saving, then installed the rest of the mods made something difrent inside the game variables ,to not chnage your icons ??? i didnt do anything else then place your mod first and tehn the rest .
but i will keep a eye on it, when installing other mods 1 at the time ,to see if it changes something. But anyway seems placing your file first did teh trick
That's pretty odd behaviour, but then again everything about NMS is a little odd at the moment.
I just started Steam and it downloaded some NMS stuff, so maybe that changed something. Let me know if you have any further problems and I'll look into it again.
Thank you for the mod and also providing the Compatibility-anator. While AMUMSS is available your Compatibility-anator is super easy to use. Thank you for taking the time to support it.
