I hate some of the visual effects that elemental talismans apply to the weapon, especially that glow, hence this mod!
And on a side note, this will fix at least a part of the fitment issue of modded weapons that are not 100% overlapping the default weapons shapes.

WARNING: This mod might conflict with various "Re-Shades" or other visual effects tweaks mods.
I don't use any of these, since I make my own, so if you do, you will have to fix the conflicts on your own, I'll explain what to do in case of shaders.

Special thanks to Moonling for guiding me on how to make this work.

IMPORTANT NOTE: READ EVERYTHING, SO YOU CAN MAKE SENSE OF HOW TO NOT BREAK YOUR OTHER MODS & CUSTOMIZE THIS MOD!
The mod is split in two parts - one for shaders (the glow) & one for buffers - they are not mutually required, you can download only one part, if you want.

Requierements:
Nioh 2 Mod Enabler

Instructions:

1) this will only disable the elemental weapon glow effect, if this is all you care about download only "shaders" part
unzip and place contents of "shaders.rar" in "ShaderFixes" folder from Nioh2 directory - DO NOT OVERWRITE ANYTHING IN THERE!

- IF YOU DON'T GET ANY POP-UP TO OVERWRITE ANYTHING, YOU ARE GOOD TO GO, SO IGNORE WHAT'S BELOW & MOVE TO PART 2)

IF YOU ALREADY HAVE ANY OF THOSE FILES IN THERE, DO NOT OVERWRITE THEM! - THIS WILL BREAK WHATEVER MODS YOU HAVE THAT USE THEM!

INSTEAD YOU WILL HAVE TO EDIT THEM YOURSELF, SO LOOK FOR THIS SHADERS, IF YOU ALREADY HAVE THEM:

7bfcb1a8c91d87c6-ps_replace.txt
49b1240ea20b18bd-ps_replace.txt
91ea5a0a0fc326fa-ps_replace.txt
ca6c4ac5ac115146-ps_replace.txt
ecca3a7b0a0e6b79-ps_replace.txt

IN EACH OF THOSE FILES, USE SEARCH FUNCTION AND LOOK FOR THE FOLLOWING LINE:

o1.w = 0.00392156886 * r0.w

REPLACE THIS VALUE    "0.00392156886"    >>>    "0.0"    SO IT SHOULD LOOK LIKE THIS:
o1.w = 0.0 * r0.w

SAVE FOR EACH FILE AND YOU ARE GOOD TO GO!

2) this lets you adjust more effects
unzip and place "elemental weapon visual effects removed" folder inside your "Mods" folder

In this folder you will find 9 .ini files, each controlling one aspect of the elemental visual effect (except the glow from part 1)
by default I left only one of them enabled , but you can customize the look to whatever you like.

Here's the "legend" for them, you also have examples of what they do in the 'images' tab:

remove_elemental_aura.ini   <<< aura = the foggy, continuous effect that spawns the whole length of the weapon, but also some other slash/wave effects

DISABLED remove_elemental_permanent_flow    <<< flow = the flame-like "burn" effect, richer & always on in the same spots

DISABLED remove_elemental_periodic_flow    <<< flow = the flame-like "burn" effect, less prominent but moves from one end to the other, periodically

DISABLED remove_elemental_particles_purity  <<< purity particles, only things left after aura & flow are removed

DISABLED remove_elemental_particles_fire    <<< fire embers, only things left after aura & flow are removed

DISABLED remove_elemental_particles_lightning1    <<< electricity effect, slimmer, only thing left after aura & flow are removed

DISABLED remove_elemental_particles_lightning2    <<< electricity effect with more contrast, only thing left after aura & flow are removed

DISABLED remove_elemental_particles_water1_corruption    <<< watery mist particles & corruption particles, only things left after aura & flow are removed
* note - water & corruption share the same vertex buffer - can't be separated

DISABLED remove_elemental_particles_water2   <<< smaller & fewer water drop particles, only things left after aura & flow are removed

YOU CAN COMBINE THESE WHICHEVER WAY YOU WANT, by removing the "DISABLED" part from their name, experiment with it and find your preferred look.

note: if you remove "aura" & both "flow" effects, you will be left only with the particles effect for each element, but...
BE WARNED that it will behave kind of weird & finicky, while on the move & interacting with light & shadows, the effect will disappear & reappear suddenly
(lightning effects are immune to this bug)

My suggestions are:

a) use it as I uploaded it, and don't change anything

b) remove aura & whatever particles you don't like

d) remove everything, except lightning particles, since those are not bugged & look cool, you can make it less contrasting by disabling only lightning2

e) remove everything

3) turn MOTION BLUR OFF & make sure you enable mods, tapping F2 in-game / F10 to reload mods

---

That should cover it all, really.

I did not test this mod through a full run of the game, theoretically, it should only disable elemental weapon effects, but you never know...
this game uses the same shaders & buffers for a lot of different stuff, so maybe something else might get removed at the same time.

If you observe any weird behavior / bugs, please report in the comments

EDIT: After playing more with this mod, it seems the "remove_elemental_aura.ini" affects a wider range of weapon visual effects, and not just the elemental stuff, for example it will "simplify" Severing Spin slashes, making them sleeker, also it will remove part of the Sword Ki's pressure wave.
Who knows what else gets removed...
So it removes more stuff than the colorful fog-smoke thingy on the weapons, be warned !
