Main goal was to kind of "restore" the playstation functionality and so with the touchpad in mind.
But for a controller without the touchpad it would be still possible to pet the pod without resorting to using the mouse but using the analog instead of the touchpad using a trigger to switch the input or maybe even a macro that does the mouse spins automatically pressing a combo of buttons on the controller or something like it, I'll look into it.
Also, I want to add that this mod is basically an auto installing Steam input layout which is quite easy to do, I spent most of the time creating the auto installing part not the Steam input layout itself
I tried to use the "xbox way" of petting the Pod, using the joysticks, but it doesn't work as expected. That's why I asked about the possibility of adapting this also for Xbox gamepads.
Thanks for your time answering. I'll keep an eye here for news, if there's any. Keep up the good work.
As far as I know the default ds4windows profile already has the touchpad acting as a mouse pointer.
If you don't have it try creating a new profile in the profile section and use "Dualshock 4" as the template for the profile and save it without changing anything.
the mouse pointer thing is a changable setting, and the game doesn't register my inputs if I set profile to act as a dualshock controller already tried that

Could this be used with a standard xbox controller? If not, would be any possibility of making one for us, xbox gamepad enjoyers?
Anyways, great mod.

Search NieR:Automata PS4 Controller or NieR:Automata PS4 Controller in the Steam Controller Settings.
NieR:Automata PlayStation 4/5 controller layouts with screenshots and Pod petting. Rub the touchpad to pet the Pod.
