Description
This is adds a Lone Wanderer perk similar to the perk from Fallout 4. If you don't have a follower, it will grant:
- +50 Carry Weight
- +15 Damage Resistance (DR)
- +5% Movement Speed
You can customise these bonuses in the provided INI file.
The perk is initially provided for free if you have a follower available to hire but don't currently have a follower with you (e.g. if you have previously hired a follower but have sent them away, or a follower has offered to join you but you've turned them down). After the perk is received, it will stay in your perk list but will only provide you with the effects if you have no follower.
This perk is intended to give the player a reason to play without a follower. Having a follower makes the game very easy due to their ability to draw almost all enemy attention and carry loads of stuff for you. The perk probably doesn't go far enough to redress this balance, but it helps slightly.
If you use a JSawyer-style mod with a starting carryweight of ~100, I recommend lowering the carry weight bonus from this mod's perk from 50 to 25. I also recommend using a backpack from Better Balanced Backpacks with the lower carry weight option enabled for an additional 25. This lets you meet a carry weight of ~150, which I think is the best balance between comfortable play and difficulty. This is balanced by the fact that to do so you also have to handicap yourself by not having companions and that you are also required to maintain your backpack condition.
Installation
This mod requires the following:
- Dead Money
- Honest Hearts
- Lonesome Road
- xNVSE
- JIP LN NVSE Plugin
Install with you mod manager or manually add to the data folder.
Uninstallation
This mod can be safety uninstalled at any time and will have no permanent effects on your game. Just delete the file and you're good to go.
Compatibility
The perk will only be provided if you have a vanilla follower available to hire, so the perk will not be awarded if you reject a mod-added companion. However, the perk effects will only become active if you have no followers at all, including mod-added ones.
The global variables for the Fallout 3 followers actually still exist in the game, so TTW may be supported. If not, tough luck.
