About this mod

An overhaul of the appearance of Aerotech with a focus on creating a bleak, destitute atmosphere. Inspired by the Bexhill refugee ghetto from the film "Children of Men".

"I don't get it. I mean, it's hopeless. This place is just a moral leper colony."  - Cormac McCarthy, The Sunset Limited

Description:

Overhauls the Aerotech Corporate Park cell with the aim of creating a more bleak, hopeless atmosphere fitting for the dejected travelers who made it to Vegas either to be turned away, or to simply lose it all. Being one of the more hopeless locations in this already bleak setting, I felt that the level design should reflect this for tonal consistency and immersion.

The aesthetic of this area has been inspired by my recent re-viewing of Alfonso Cuarón's excellent 2006 film "Children Of Men", whose scenes in the Bexhill refugee ghetto permeate the screen with atmosphere. It is the nadir of an already bleak setting, and I feel that same atmosphere should be applied to Aerotech. My aim is to make the location fit the tone of one of my favorite, but one of this location and New Vegas' darkest quests, The Coyotes.

Features:

The location has been cluttered to meet the aesthetic both of an abandoned corporate park and refugee camp. Living spaces, cooking fires, trash, a workshop area, stacks of abandoned suitcases (I hope I don't have to explain why this is evocative dark imagery), a laundry setup, and a memorial have all been included. The former corporate buildings have been recluttered with ornamental plantings, palm trees (visible from outside the cell too), benches, and vending machines.

The soundscape has been added to for increased immersion, crowd ambience and a custom soundtrack made by Nobody's Nail Machine for Fallout: Sonora have been included to further distinguish the location.

This mod was designed for compatibility with The High Desert and Liamnirvana's Better Bases NCR. Both are great mods I highly recommend. The latter will add further detail to the area and works well in conjunction with this mod.
