If your like me, the fire bomb added in Honest hearts was always a massive let down, not at all working as one would expect ie:
Exploding on impact

Instead, it will nonsensically bounce around like a Ping-Pong ball on meth, before randomly deciding to blow up on its own after a few seconds. What in the goddamn.....?

As of Version 1.2 this mod works differently:

The mod now takes advantage of bug fixes made to grenades in the latest version of lStewies Tweaks.

For users nothing will have changed gameplay wise aside from the bug with vats being fixed.

Behind the scenes, the mod now uses the vanilla game "detonates on impact" flags instead of the previous method, as the longstanding bugs with the flag has been fixed thanks to lStewie.

All other changes to Firebombs/Molotov's/Nuka-Cocktails remain unchanged from older versions.



What is this mod?


A proof of concept attempting to fix this long standing issue by changing how the firebomb works.

The mod accomplishes this by first changing the firebomb from a "lobber" type projectile, to instead a "missile" projectile.

Doing so causes the firebombs thrown object to immediately explode upon coming into contact with either an enemy or terrain.


The mod also changes the firebomb to use the nuka cocktail impact effect (which imo looks much more like a molotov should), instead of the wimpy looking incinerator impact effect.
The benefit of this is now when you throw a firebomb , you get a satisfying explosion of flame all around the point of impact.

Additionally the mod also affects the Nuka Cocktail and Molotov Cocktail added by TTW. (if you use the TTW version)

Lastly, the mod also adds a crafting recipe to the workbench allowing you to make fire bombs for yourself, instead of relying on just finding them on traders/enemies.



Known issues:

Breaks vats for firebombs (and molotovs/nuke-cocktails if you use the ttw version), not sure why.
You will just toss the firebomb way over the targets head.
(only with version 1.1 and older, see above 1.2 changes.)
