About this mod

TTW 3.3.2 reduced prices across the Wastelands by as much as 90%. Now, prices are going up again, but in a way that benefits the Player by earning them more Caps from selling scavenged Junk, Clothing, and Food Items. Also, rising prices and competition has caused the Crimson Caravan and Gun Runners to open stalls in Rivet City Market!

Welcome to the Wasteland Inflation Mod Suite! Prices are going up, but only so that YOU, the Player, can enjoy increased Profits on the sales of your scavenged goods! If you are like me and enjoy playing rich Courier's that count every Cap, this mod is for you!

Allow me to preface this mod by saying, despite it's name, this mod actually does not hurt the Player's pocketbook, but rather, only benefits the Player by providing more opportunities for buying and selling, and making more Caps!

As you TTW 3.3.2 Players know, the modding team wanted to even out the economies between the Capital Wasteland and the Mojave Wasteland due to the massive differences in pricing between the two locations. Unfortunately, they decided to do this by deflating the prices of nearly all items in the game by as much as 90%, to the point that some of the prices became outrageous!

(Sierra Madre Gold Bars dropped from being worth 10,547 Caps each to just 1001 Caps?! Unacceptable! Deathclaw Hands for only 25 Caps!? Unjustified! TTW Recipes, that require as much as 50 Caps worth of ingredients to make, are ALL priced at a measly 5 Caps?! Highway robbery.)

First, this mod actually does not completely undo that. What this mod does, however, is inflate the prices of items across three categories; Junk, Clothing, and Food, and balances the prices of items according to value and rarity, with respect to the game's economy so that the Player will nearly ALWAYS turn a much higher profit when selling scavenged items, and unwanted or unneeded items.

An add on to this mod also opens up two of the empty stalls in Rivet City, so that goods from the Gun Runners and the Crimson Caravan are now available in the Capital Wasteland! And, for player convenience, a Gun Runner's mini-stall has been placed right outside the Player's Megaton home, with an additional Vendortron located behind the stairs and just outside Lydia Montenegro's Boutique LeChic in TenPenny Tower! WHAT THIS MOD DOES

1. In the original Fallout New Vegas, Deathclaw Hands were worth 75 Caps. TTW 3.3.2 deflated the price to just 25 Caps!
A Wasteland Omelet, one of the healthiest foods in the game, was worth 100 Caps. TTW 3.3.2 deflated the price to just 10 Caps!

These drastic price drops have been remedied across various items throughout the Wastelands, so that Players can recoup higher returns on the sales of scavenged goods.

2. You can now expect to see higher prices for Junk items across the Wastelands, that are otherwise useless clutter. Now, much of that Junk you run across and usually ignore is actually worth taking and selling, just like Crazy Wolfgang.

Please refer to the mod's READ ME, or to the pinned comment I will leave in the Post's section for a full breakdown of which Junk items can now be sold for higher profits.

3. The prices of Food items now reflect their value in relation to each other, and prepared Foods using the Survival Skill are priced so that Players who choose to sell off excess Food will now enjoy a fair profit of Caps equal to the value of the food's total ingredients!

For example, for immersion, cooked Foods are now worth more than Raw foods. It never made any sense to me that raw Gecko Meat would be worth the exact same Caps as a Gecko Steak. Same goes for Brahmin Meat and Brahmin Steak, Molerat, BigHorner, etc.

Now, cooked foods are generally worth double the Caps as their raw counterparts.

Healthier Foods are now worth more Caps than similar foods of the same ingredients. For example, it makes no sense that Iguana Bits and Iguana On A Stick would be worth the exact same caps, when Iguana On A Stick is the far better choice, healing more hit points and reducing more starvation in Hardcore Mode.

Now, healthier foods are worth more Caps than less healthy foods of the same ingredients.

Prepared Foods using combined Ingredients are now priced much higher, to account for the total cost of ingredients used to create the Food. Prices are set so that IF the Player ever chooses to sell off their prepared Foods, to cut weight, declutter their Aid Inventory, or for whatever reason, they will now enjoy a profit equal to the total cost of Ingredients!

Please refer to the pinned Post about Food Prices for details!

Please refer to the Mod's READ ME, or to the pinned comment I will leave in the Post's section for a detailed breakdown of the higher food prices, and how these changes will actually benefit the Player in spite of increased costs!

4. The Player will now enjoy higher profits upon selling clean Pre-War Clothes, Mercenary Clothing, Gambling Suits, and more!
It never made any sense to me, whatsoever, that "Dirty" and "Grimy" pre-war clothes would be worth the same Caps as a clean set of Pre-War Clothes, or Mercenary clothing.

Now, clean Pre-War clothes, Mercenary Clothing, Prospector Outfits and more can be sold for considerably higher profits than their dirty counterparts! This also takes into consideration rare clothes, like Merchant Outfits and Sexy Sleepwear, which are seldom found as much as other types of clothing, and are therefore priced even higher.

Now, the Player can expect to see higher returns when selling clothing that actually should have greater value!

Please refer to the mod's READ ME files, or to the pinned comment detailing Clothing Price Changes for a breakdown of what to expect regarding the new pricing structure for Clothing!

5. As was already mentioned, as an optional Add On and standalone Mod in and of itself, Blake from the Crimson Caravan has opened a stall in Rivet City! In addition, the Gun Runners have also set up Vendortrons in Rivet City, Tenpenny Tower, and in Megaton! Now the Player will have access to New Vegas mods and equipment from the Capital Wasteland! The available Caps each vendor has for trade has also been increased, to assist the Player with selling off high value goods in the late game!

Be advised, that because this portion of the Mod modifies the game's world space, you should not load from a save from within the same cell. Leaving will result in an infinite load. Simply exit from the Rivet City Market, Tenpenny Tower, or from Megaton, and load a save from outside of these areas, so that upon returning the game can load the world space fresh. Then everything will proceed normally.

6. I am also including my own private, personalized version of the mod that includes additional changes for flavor and immersion, just to give my fellow Couriers the option to experience the Mod as I like to play it.

Some examples of the changes are: Increased prices for Purified Water (the Mojave is a desert and the Capital Wasteland's water is irradiated and unsafe to drink, ergo the price of Purified Water has been tripled) Higher Prices for Alcohol (Beer is cheap, Whiskey, Vodka and Wine are mid-range, and Scotch is expensive - according to what I've researched - so they shouldn't all be the same price)

Pre-War Books have been renamed for immersion (for example, you will find "Pre-War Science Fiction", "Pre-War Epic Novels", and "Pre-War Journals" instead of just plain old "Books"), among other changes for enhanced immersion.

Please refer to the Deluxe version's READ ME, or to the pinned comment I will leave in the Post's section detailing the differences between the main mod, and my personalized version.

My philosophy is that modding is all about creating an individualized, immersive Player experience. With that being the case, I am setting permissions so that Players who know how to mod are free to make changes to pricing as they see fit, as long as I am credited as the original author of the mod. If you want to edit the mod to make everything super expensive, super cheap, or balance out prices you disagree with, go ahead. That's essentially what I'm doing, right?

In ALL of my New Vegas and TTW long games, I always enjoy playing wealthy characters, and as a personal Quest just for my own characters, I strive to obtain 100 Barter and 100,000 Caps at some point during every play through. The price changes in TTW 3.3.2 has made this journey even more difficult, so I sought to remedy the change in a balanced and fair way that doesn't take away from the immersion or outright break the game's economy. Having play tested this mod for over a month and through 30 levels with two characters, do not expect to get rich quick, but rather, as your Barter, Survival and Repair skill increases, you can expect to see a more rapid influx of Caps, and FAR more fair returns on many of the items sold that I felt had been grossly undervalued.

Version 1.2 Change Log
  • Sexy Sleepwear is rarely found in good condition, and can only be repaired with other Sexy Sleepwear, creating a situation where Players are rarely able to turn a profit on this clothing item. Now, Sexy Sleepwear's repair list has been changed to RepairClothing, so that these rare Clothing items can now be repaired with common Pre-War clothing, giving the Player more opportunities to turn a profit when finding these rare items.
  • Increased the price of Sexy Sleepwear to 111 Caps, so that the item will sell for a solid 100 Caps at 100 Barter, to the average Vendor, to reflect rarity. (111 x .9 [100 Barter] = 99.9 Caps) (Rounded up to 100 in game)
  • Wasteland Doctor / Surgeon's Fatigues rounded up from 18 to 20 Caps at full condition.
  • Added previously omitted Gambler Hats, Dresses and Suits to the proper pricing.
  • Added White Glove Attire (Suits and Dresses) to Pre-War Clothing pricing
  • Added RepairClothing to White Glove Attire repair list. Previously, White Glove Attire had no Player repair options, and could only be repaired at Vendors. Now, Players can use Pre-War clothing to repair White Glove attire, and sell these for the same profits as Clean Pre-War Clothing!
  • Pool balls are rare to find in the Wastelands, and you need one of each to complete a set! Now, Pool balls will be worth ten times their ball number in caps! As an Easter Egg, the rare Cue Ball is worth the total amount of all other Pool balls, combined.
  • Repackaged the Mod for easier install with MO2
