alright so i finally got to free Cheyenne man but its so empty like i am talking to all these npcs but no ones giving me any quests man where are the 2 remaining quests ?
There are three quests in Free Cheyenne itself. "Don't Fence Me In" can be started by talking to Felicity in the Freenian shack, "Law and Order" can be started by talking to Councilor Hall at his house (the one with the American flag outside), and "Wyoming Mail" can be started by talking to Deputy Marshal Sweet at the Marshal HQ (tall building next to the burnt house in the center of the city).
Alright so first of all in the fence quest the guard guarding the armory isnt moving even after i passed the speech check. Also secondly why does hall calls us the frumentarii at the end of law and order? i dont get it. Is he working for the legion?
The marshal armory guard must be encountering a bug of some kind, my apologies. I tested that extensively but something must have slipped past. You can also get by the guard by putting on a deputy marshal uniform.
As for Councilor Hall, are you referring to "so long, frumentarii"? He isn't calling you a frumentarii, that's just Hall expressing his satisfaction that he finally has the evidence he needs to get the political power to get rid of any frumentarii who've infiltrated the city.
How do I progress the quest for the councilman? I talked to the bartender and M about the SMG. I also talked to the preacher but he wouldn't help me. Also I couldn't find anyone at the Freenian camp. What am I missing?
Did you talk to Councilor Hall about what you've uncovered with the stolen gun? He's supposed to direct you to talk to the Shipping Boss at the PTC. You can also talk to the barber in his shop that's next to the saloon. He'll help you put the clues together.
so, how far along is this mod? sounds like there isnt much yet, but i'd love to hear about what's planned. got this mod on track and will be hoping to see this advance forward.
Still very much in the early stages. The landscape and a couple of locations are finished, but the real work of quests and NPCs are still on the horizon.
The game is going to take place across the real life Colorado Front Range, so you'll be able to not only visit the City of Free Cheyenne but also Laramie, Denver, Boulder, etc. I have three main joinable factions and a "wildcard" path planned, as well as many smaller factions to interact with across the Corridor Wasteland. So far I have nine companions planned (Yes, including a Legion companion), each with their own story and unique quest. I've been really looking forward to bringing this mod together.
I'm always extremely concerned about these large scale New Lands mods. if and when you bring on more help make sure to gatekeep the hell out of them so the project doesn't crash and burn like The Frontier, or mediocrity of New California.
Still I hope Free Cheyenne (and Fallout:Ashfall, and any other projects I don't know about) end up turning out good.
ps. I found out about this mod through being linked to your write-up about "the speech problem" and always thought the easiest way was to increase the importance of other skills and also raw special checks, I mean there are only 3 charisma checks in the entire Vanilla game (playing with the mini boomers at nellis, as an alternative to a 60 Speech check (LOL) in one of the Camp Mccarren quests and flirting with corporal Betsy) and two of them are pointless and have zero consequences. I liked what you had to say about using speech to open up options instead of it being the automatic press to win button, and thought it was interesting compared to the Ashfall's stated plan of using raw Charisma checks in addition to or even as prerequisite to the speech checks.
Thanks, I'm hoping it'll turn out good too. And it's understandable to be concerned about DLC sized, big story, or New Lands mods since they tend to stumble on the source material and game philosophy. I've been working very hard to make this mod a worthy follow-up to New Vegas and hopefully it pays off.
I'm glad you liked the direction we're taking Speech. I should have included it in the write-up, but I don't think a ton of Charisma checks for dialogue is a good solution for the same reason it was kind of stinky in New California. You have to build your character for a specific purpose and it's tough to adjust it halfway through the game when you realize it isn't working how you want it to. You need to constantly carry consumables to boost your Charisma just before you go into dialogue with another character or choose perks to boost it. But that's just my experience. I'm sure some players enjoy their choices and consequences being directly related to how they made their character.
The next write-up I'm planning to get out in the near future is the major issue of Flanderization in Fallout, specifically of Caesar's Legion. I'll be getting into how the mod project is going to deal with the Legion as opposed to the popular conception in the community and more recent projects like The Frontier. Hopefully that'll be written and finished by mid-September.
I know I might sound stupid for asking but I don't know how to get back to the mojave i know your suppose to talk to the main guy and all i remember is he said something about a cam if anyone can help id appreciate it.
I'd be glad to help on the project and I won't cost you anything but mentioning me in the credits, but I'm worried you're looking for professionals... not a 23-year-old being who has crappy equipment. If you are interested, let me know what quotes and voice you need and I'll try my best to help. ~Sincerely, ZaneGrey- 021
