Version 3:Huge balancing update for the main versions of the mod that include the bows!
I've greatly reduced the amount of arrows found in loot. When I made this I was trying to play it safe and ensure that they never ran out of arrows, but I grossly overestimated. No longer will Vipers have 20 arrows on their corpses lmao (sorry.) I've also made it harder to find the valuable Datura Antivenom needed to cure the effects of the Vipers venomous weaponry. Stock up on Stimpacks and cross your fingers if you decide to take them on at a lower level. They will now also drop regular low condition bows upon death.
Thanks to everyone who provided balancing feedback, especially Faded135. They should be more fun to battle now that the stakes have been raised a bit and hopefully should feel more balanced.
If you still find their loot to be too high or if regular vanilla loot is to abundant.. I highly recommend using Unfound Loot by Eddoursul. I've been using it for years now and it makes the game more difficult and randomized. It also does not touch mod added loot so you'll never miss items that need to be where you want them.
is there a certain way to load this mod as well as its requirements? for some reason the vipers are just wearing normal raider armor and none of the bone armors.
edit: got the same problem with the vanilla friendly version....
Make sure you're loading after Mojave Raiders or any other mods that might touch raiders. If you aren't using MO2. I highly recommend doing so. It's much easier to tackle conflicts with. You can also always check the mod in xedit to see what if anything is overwriting the records from this mod's plugin.
Everything works completely fine, except for the bone necklaces -- they appear as a huge red triangle around the NPC. I am using Vortex, and have tried playing both with the type 3 model on and off.
EDIT: Nevermind. I installed the base type 3 model (naked one), then had it load after the clothed version, and enabled both. I can see the necklaces now.
Notice some missing model items as bone spears and bone knives. Is there another mod I need or a different pack? I downloaded the ones in requirements.
EDIT:
NVM. Turns out bone armour was deactivated in my mod list for some reason.
Easier if you just edit your preferred version in xedit. Just remove the weapon changes from the npc entries and bring forward the vanilla weapon and ammo entries.
Amazing mod!!!! But I have one question: is there any file, mod, or way to make vipers use bows and guns? At least 2 of 5 vipers use guns instead of bows because they become repetitive, monotonous, and easy to defeat.
Technically you can merge most mods depending on your knowledge. It should be okay but I would check the records in xedit afterwards to make sure everything merged.
