    The graphic design skills on display in that poster image; whew , it makes me excited to potentially see a whole series of SIDE ACTIVITY mods adding a bunch of weird little extra odd jobs to the wasteland

    Looks really cool! Just some q's: does the detector make a scanning noise that ramps up when you detect a spot? And when you do detect it, is there a prompt to dig it up with a shovel or something in your inventory? Gives us the deets, or a video! Lol

      Search the side of the road at the I-15 east of Lone Wolf Radio (with the metal detector of course)

    So far, I've found 26 roadside treasures and 1 buried box. On the roadside treasures, it's usually 10-15 caps plus a few ammo or a component. On the box, I got 200 caps, an NCR dogtag, a fully mutilated corpse, and a Ranger Sequioa (good alternative to killing Rangers for the revolver btw). So it's not exactly the quickest way to make money but really fun when you're bored of looting, stealing, or scavenging ruins

    Though I am curious, are the contents of said roadside treasures, and treasure maps, randomised?

    Edit: 100ish treasures now, and 4 different buried boxes. Yes, they are randomised and, unfortunately, you can find multiple copies of the same treasure map if you're hunting in the same region.

    Do you plan on creating more Side Activity mods? This one sounds like fun and I feel New Vegas could use more side stuff to do.

      how about some more in depth hunting? Like, some places have hunting lodges with an NPC who will trade animal parts/eggs for caps or what not. Hell, you could use some of the ingame locations as hunting grounds, with shifting increased spawns deepending on the week/day, that way its replayability skyrockets

      please do something like fishing similar to the skyrim one
    4. The in-depth hunting idea is great! I've always wanted to have some kind of side-hustle job at hunting, like Sunny Smiles. Á la Fallout 1 caravan guard, where you accept the job or trace a path on a map or something, and that takes you to a new small but outdoors area (At the bottom of a cliff, surrounded by rocks but with a clear view of the sky, for example). But in this case, instead of protecting a caravan, you find fauna and nests to kill and loot. Not even new fauna, the animals in vanilla FNV are already enough. Once you kill the creatures and loot them, you can interact with some specific trigger to leave and once you do the area is cleansed so it doesn't consume extra memory and you can start a new hunt in the same area later. The areas can be separated by difficulty, as in... "Calm" wildlands where you have a chance of encountering either Geckos, wild Brahmin, small killer mantis, bloatflies, etc. Then "Active" zones, with mid-level creatures, then "Dangerous" areas, where you get the walking nightmares. Deathclaws and such (I know, the thorn already exists but I'd much prefer the idea to HUNT, not brawl, it's a roleplay issue more than anything). Also, hunting lodges that pay more for animal products than other places is a great idea, Joemega.

      In any case, this whole comment is just a hasty and loose idea storm just to show that there's room for imagination! Sorry for the long comment, I've always wanted to see a hunting grounds mod for this game, so I got excited when I saw the hunting suggestion ^ ^;

    Very nice! Liking it a lot so far.
    I find funny that since the detector is essentially a weapon and you scan the area by "firing" it, sometimes NPCs around say "Hey! careful with that!" or something like that.

    Hi kungkobra!

    I'm Mutant Mods & run a channel on YouTube where I have a show called Modders Got Talent for Fallout New Vegas. In the coming episode, I'll be featuring multiple modders who've made remarkable & one of a kind mods. Your mod Side Activity - Treasure Hunting  caught my attention & I decided to have it featured along with you as a guest for a brief moment. If you would like to participate in the video message me on my Discord: MutantModsPC. All that is required of you is to make a brief 10-20 second statement or comment on your own mod Side Activity - Treasure Hunting and send it over in audio or text. Excited to hear back from you! If you're uncomfortable with audio, you can send over a text that I'll instead voice or quotes during the video.

    Thanks,
    MM

    Nice idea!  600 markers sounds INCREDIBLY tedious :D  I've often considered doing something similar with random encounters for people who don't use fast travel (ie., "You trip over a lockbox hidden underneath a cactus" or "Your keen perception allows you to spot a squad of bandits on the nearby ridge").
