Overview
The clamour of her bloodthirsty crowds reaches every corner of The Wasteland... The crowds are waiting for you, stranger... It's time for blood... This is The Thorn! Here's where the strong make a name for themselves and the weak are fed to the jaws of hell.
The Thorn in vanilla New Vegas does not live up to expectations. Lighting is dull and one-dimensional, hallways are bland and uncluttered, and there's a plethora of duplicate doors. Overall it's a strange and ugly space, daunting for any new visitor. The Thorn Overhauled is a visual rework of the Wasteland's infamous subterranean combat arena. All alterations and additions are 100% lore-friendly; the goal was to create an experience that fits seamlessly with the base game.
Enhanced and expanded lighting.
Richer atmosphere: Swirling mist, rising smoke and drifting dust particles.
Greater geometric detail: Rubble, machinery and debris.
The arena floor is now stained with battle... blood, bones etc.
Improved worldbuilding e.g. the cages are built out of scrap instead of being pre-war construction.
Red and Blue team areas of the arena now clearly marked.
All doors are now signposted and labelled.
Holes in levels geometry, nasty Z-fighting and other bugs fixed.
1. Open Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout New Vegas\Data 2. Drag TheThornOverhauled.esm file into Fallout New Vegas\Data. 3. Tick the box beside TheThornOverhauled.esm in "Data Files" in the Fallout: New Vegas launcher. 4. Launch Fallout: New Vegas.
