Little Buster - Hittin' the Big-Time!


The Alternate Reality series intends to add some desperately needed variety / spice / random elements to your playthroughs - implementing alternate realities as is similar in Bethesda and Obsidian's RPG experiences. Certain things are left open-ended and the actual reality of your game may not always play out (or be perceived) the same way.



For some reason, the developers of New Vegas decided for Little Buster to die in a Freeside Alley.

This mod allows for Buster to survive, and make his way to the Gomorrah to hang out and play cards like he claimed he would. Being a decent bounty hunter, Buster should realistically be able to make his way to the Gomorrah without getting killed by stupid/weak Freeside thugs.

Alternate Reality #1: (Vanilla Interaction) Buster ends up dead in an alley.

Alternate Reality #2: Buster makes his way to the Gomorrah to hang out and play cards.

Things You Can Do:

• This mod includes a "Buster Spawn Fix Trigger." This invisible trigger is placed in Freeside. In order for the Buster Script / Alternate Reality to activate, you need to physically pass by Freeside (outside the Mormon Fort). This isn't a big deal, and most players shouldn't notice this because they should pass by Freeside at least one time after all of this happens. However, if you have a mod that lets you fast travel to The Strip, or if you 'COC' there, Alternate Reality may not be activated because you weren't physically in Freeside. In the future, I may add another invisible Buster Spawn Trigger on The Strip.
  

In the future, I plan on modifying Buster's behavior, animations, schedule, and actions. It may take a slight bit of work, but it could be worth it to see Buster do things like...

• slapping around the Bartender/Blackjack Dealer
• dancing with the strippers
• having sexual relations with the player depending on the player's gender/sexuality traits (Black Widow / Confirmed Bachelor)
  

It may be interesting to be able to catch Buster in acts of debauchery...

• you stumble into the bedrooms downstairs to find buster in his underwear laying down next to some hooker.
• you catch him in the bathroom doing something with someone.
  

I had the idea that the player could build a friendship with Buster over time as a fellow wastelander/merc, and perhaps he could even get involved in Gomorrah's later quests somehow.

I feel like it's implied that Buster, like most in the Wasteland, may be a (debaucherous, perhaps?) hedonist, or at least focused on material gains. It's also implied in my mod that Buster, once the player encounters him at Gomorrah, is already drunk and has been partying. He's been in a "loose mood." I think this fits in really well with the whole Strip's mythos in the lore.
