    Unofficial EVE Patches

This is a collection of unofficial patches for EVE - Essential Visual Enhancements by weijiesen, as provided by a member of the EVE Team (Athelbras).  See the DESCRIPTION page for details.  Other patches will (likely) be added over time.

These patches are for players who are knowledgeable modders able to resolve issues themselves without assistance.  So it is not my intention to provide advice or support here.

    • Unofficial WMIM_EVE Patch

This is an EVE compatibility Patch for Weapon Mesh Improvement Mod (WMIM) v1.3 by RoyBatterian.
Weapon Retexture Project - WRP v2.2.5 by Millenia can also be optionally installed since there are no conflicts.

    • Unofficial Energy Colorings Patch

This is a patch for EVE - Essential VIsual Enhancements to restore the original Green energy colorings for the Sprtel-Wood 9700 (GRA) and the AER14 Prototype, plus the original Red laser effects for the Laser RCW.  Do not install this patch if using the Unofficial WMIM_EVE Patch, since it already reverts the energy colorings.

Version 2.0 restores the original Red laser effects for the Laser RCW in both patches.

HI! Vortex yells at me that EVE and WMIM esps aren't compatible. What do I do about it?

Find a way to override what Vortex is complaining about -- perhaps Vortex provides a method for doing that.

Or use a different mod manager that is happy doing the installs.  Or do "manual" installs yourself.

I see the same warning message! Not sure if it is a 'legitimate' issue or the mod manager vortex just being overly sensitive and 'yelling' on something that is a probable area for problem (but not necessarily in this case??)

It is not a legitimate issue.  It is a Vortex problem.  Ignore it.

Prior to downloading this patch, i saw this warning message as per this screenshot: https://imgur.com/UrZKDI6

I thought this patch would be fixing that so i went ahead installed it through Mod manager vortex, set the rules according to what was described under Description tab. But i still see this warning message there.

Not sure if any one of your kind and knowledgeable mod experts can help me out here?

Otherwise, it seems the game still runs but i am not sure whether (or where) some parts remain vanilla or not.

Hello, I have a problem, for some reason when I install the patch, the texture effects are not visible when the weapons are used by other NPCs and weapons lying on the shelves.

You made a mistake of some kind or have a "conflict".  I suggest either restore your installs back to the way they were and then try again, or else restore and do not use these patches.

sorry if this is a dumb question but how do you allow overwriting of all files when installing?

If you are using a mod manager, and there is a message that says that a file or several files or a folder (directory) already exists, and do you want to replace those, you should respond with Yes / Okay.  Same thing if you are doing a manual install instead for which you are directly copying files or folders containing files.

So basically just respond in whatever way is needed to ensure that existing things are replaced by what you are installing.

As noted a couple of times in recent replies, I have been under the impression that it already exists, although I do not know if it involves FO3 EVE or FNV EVE.

Here is an old link that I never followed up on due to no interest in TTW.  So it might or might not be useful: https://taleoftwowastelands.com/content/ttw-eve

Shot in the dark, but does this also revert the laser RCW's lasers from green to the original red?

Oops!!!  Forgot about the RCW.  So both patches need an update to restore the original red laser effects.

Thank you, and a Kudo, for reporting the problem!

      EDIT: fixed in Version 2.0

Interesting ... although the RCW's default laser coloring is Red, the default energy coloring on the weapon itself is Green.  Which is unlike the Sprtel-Wood 9700's defaults which are matching coloring (Green) on both weapon energy textures and laser effects.  Perhaps it is an "oversight" that the texture artist did not use matching Red on the RCW.  However it does explain EVE's reworking of the RCW to also have matching colors, and happened to go with all Green instead of all Red.

Thank you very much much for providing a patch. I have followed your instructions regarding the load order. WMIM alongside WRP works well and also the effects from EVE. However, the plasma pistol (only tested with that) still has the vanilla textures, which obviously don't look great.

Is there anything I am doing wrong here? Btw I am using Vortex.

    Thanks in advance ;)

The patch does not apply EVE's model or textures if WMIM edits the base-game weapon model in any way, since the goal is to use WMIM's appearance changes. In which case the textures end up being whatever WMIM itself uses (i.e. base-game textures), or WRP's textures if that is optionally installed.

WMIM edits both the Plasma Pistol and the Plasma Pistol (GRA) weapon models, which is why they show the original base-game textures.  For enhanced energy weapon models and textures, simply install EVE and do not use the WMIM and WRP patches.

Another alternative for enhanced models and textures, spanning both Energy and Ballistic weaponry, is to install EVE, then Weapon Mods Expanded (WMX) by antistar, and lastly WMX - EVE Compatibility v1.0.10 in the Optional Files download area over at WMX.  The patch is provided by antistar and validated by myself.  This is the setup that I have used for many years. As an added extra, Weapon Retexture Project v1.95 by Millenia can be optionally installed as well; this is an older version of WRP which does not contain an .ESP file.

Would it even work with TTW?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't TTW have a buncha more edits WMIM itself doesn't, requiring dedicated patch?

Btb, am real hyped to see a proper WMIM patch and stan hard for a TTW patch coming soon someday. C:
It just ain't the same to play f3/vegas without them critical death effects these days.

I thought there is already an EVE TTW patch somewhere out there, with an appropriate forum.  Perhaps it involves EVE for Fallout 3, rather than EVE for New Vegas.  Here is the blurb that I wrote long ago for a still-present "sticky" post entry over on this EVE's forum:

"TTW is not supported here, there are no compatibility patches in our files area, and no plans to provide those. If you are using TTW, then issues with EVE should be reported over at the appropriate TTW forum."

Thus far ... I have not investigated TTW, much less used it.  So no clue as to support requirements.

[ perhaps this will be something for me to lookover in the future after recovering from surgery ]

While thankful for the link, I do have to note that it ain't a public forum.
Like, even with an account, it seems not for people who haven't been posting on ttw way back when..?

That aside, ofc take your time. While I am unhealthily hype about eve being patched, it really is but "make mod lmao"-sentiment. And imma rather not burden anyone doing this stuff in their free time and for a hobby with any such burden of expectation :V
