About this mod

Adds a level 10 perk with 4 ranks. Buffs use of Katana and Katana only.

Requirements
Permissions and credits
This mod is now part of Spartacus' Perk Collection and will not be maintained any further. Use the perk collection mod instead. The 4th rank of the Samurai perk is fixed in the Perk Collection mod, but not in this one.
You can safely install the collection mod during a gameplay
with this mod, though I recommend you to delete this mod, once you start a new game. No bad consequences if not doing so, but saves you a slot in your load order.




Version log:

v2.2 MAJOR BUGFIX, perk conditions were wrong, therefore no effect in game, fixed now, no new game required
        edit: No, just a different way to obtain the same goal. use now GetEquipped Function on Perk Owner instead of IsWeapon on Weapon.

Description:
This perk works ONLY with the Katana added by GRA, no other weapons!
You can anyway change everything to your liking by using GECK and/or xEdit.

Level 10, AGI 8, Melee 90
You are a master with the Katana. 1st rank gives 30% bonus to critical damage and 15% attack speed bonus. 2nd rank increases crit.hit chance by 10%. 3rd rank ignores 5 DT of the target and increases crit. hit chance by 10% (+20% in sum) and crit. damage by 20% (+50% in sum). 4th rank gives power attacks a damage bonus of +20! (Does not count for critical hits.)

Install:
Drop the .esp in the Data folder of your New Vegas folder. Check the .esp in your Mod Manager / Game Launcher before starting the game.
Can be installed mid-game, no new game necessary.

Update:
Update from v2.0 to newer versions is no problem. Just replace the old esp with the new one. No new game start necessary.
Update from v1.0 to any other version: Incompatible. Start a new game.
Game will not crash, but if you already gained the perk before and replace the old esp with the new one there may by dysfunctionalities of the perk. (The perk from v1.0 still applies and the perk from v2.0 can be learned in addition. I advice to start a New Game after updating to 2.0. Not sure what v1.0 perk is doing if updating midgame.)


Deinstall:
Delete the .esp from you data-folder.
It is not recommended to uninstall any mod mid game. There are ways to do so, but search the internet for it. An easy way is to replace the desired .esp in your data folder by an empty .esp with the same name. But I am not sure, how New Vegas will react to this. Especially if you already took the perk ingame.

I created this initially inside another mod and just extracted it from there with xEdit. Also my first time with using a function from a script extender (4th perk rank only).

Still applies for v2.0. I guess this has to do with the used script plugin, but I am not sure.
Ingame the perk seems to work.

Changed the 4th perk rank of the Samurai perk in the Perk Collection mod, but not in this one here. This single perk mod will not be updated in the future.
I leave this page online for everyone, who wants to learn from failed stuff to avoid mistakes or improve existing content/documentation.

Permissions, edits, reuploads ... :
You are allowed to edit and reupload this mod anywhere, create patches, give the perk a better pipboy-icon... whatever stuff, just mention the original source (this site here) when you do so.
If you want to create a better pipboy-icon (I took vanilla Katana-icon from GRA) and me to implement it, just send it to me, I will implement it and of course mention you in the credits.
Other thoughts and ideas are ofc welcome in the comments. Just don't expect me to do anything from it. Comment sections are really nice to gather informations and ideas, including the readers, who may create a mod in the future. Doesn't mean I will implement stuff.

Q: Why ShowOff xNVSE Plugin?
A: Because the 4th rank of the Samurai Perk uses a function from it. (xEdit may show "unknown"-stuff, when you look into it)
