This mod works wonderfully when we talk about smaller scale battles player vs multiple enemy npcs, but whenever there are around 20 npcs battling out amongst themselves this mod crashes the game. I've tested for the last 3 hours, and if I disable the mod I cannot get the game to crash, with the mod enabled after 2-5 mins it without a fail crashes. Namely the area around Camp McCarran when Fiends engage against NCR Troopers.
Enhanced NPC Awareness mod suffers the same fate as it was my first option to fix npcs completely ignoring dead bodies. Which is really unfortunate these mods add a lot to the game.
I tried reducing the ticks per second option thinking it would help however it did not unfortunately, I will try increasing it to see if there is any difference.
Ok putting the tickrate at 16 seems to have fixed the crashes for me. I will keep testing but this is great as it is. I really love this mod, it makes surrounding npcs join an ongoing shootout, it's great.
Enhanced NPC Awareness is broken on multiple levels, it's not as simple a fix as that. Besides, even when it works, the mod itself is prone to breaking quests and such. You shouldn't be using it, anyway.
I appreciate the way you took time to admonish them for poor mod choice, but not also address the general and much more mod-relevant request for help with changing the tick rate.
Wouldnt it make more sense for NPC to run for cover when they see their friend dropping dead next to them to an unknown source instead of casually looking for its potential assailant?
This is a great mod and i dont know of anything else that does this or similar that's any good.
Is there any planned update or fix? Apparently there are issues that this mod has/causes and it's made me apprehensive to use it, but i really want to..
I haven't ever had a concrete way to reproduce the error to get to the bottom of it, and have been away from modding for a few months.
A user below seems to have identified a case where too many NPCs running the script all at once will crash the game if you use the default tick rate (how often the script on each dead person looks for people to alert), but that slowing down the tick rate in the mod config .ini I provided fixes the issue.
When I get my setup back up and running I'll try to reproduce the issue in the way they've suggested, and either way I can add some behaviour to suppress the system while already in combat.
Got a crash when an enemy nightkin switched to an attacking state. nvse.log displays:
Error in script 1D000ADD (YBIDScriptEffectDead) in mod YourBuddyIsDead.esp Division by zero Operator / failed to evaluate to a valid result Script line approximation: Let fTickTime := ##1 / (GetINIFloat "PERFORMANCE:TicksPerSecond" "YBID\YBIDconfig.ini")## (error wrapped in ##'s) Where fTickTime=0 File: YourBuddyIsDead.esp Offset: 0x007A Command: Let
Maybe caused by tick fix? It doesn't seem like it would be another ai mod conflicting.
I'm getting the "this should only appear once" message multiple times along with the infinite dead body check alertness. I wonder if it could script extender bug? Happened before with no mods and I have very little mods this time and fresh install and playthrough.
(I know it's not the mod it's just I was hoping this mod would fix that somehow)
So I'd don't know how I'd classify this, since I think *technically* nothing is actually executing incorrectly, but this mod seems to give the Vault 3 hostages a case of Stockholms Syndrome.
With this mod on, I went and shot up Vault 3, as you do, but when I got to the holding cell, the prisoners became hostile during the gunfight and Cass started blowing their heads off. This only stopped when I removed the prisoners from the faction that makes the fiends not murder them in xEdit OR when I disabled this mod. I'm guessing it's because the faction marks the prisoners as "friends" to the fiends, and this mod makes npcs care when "friends" are murdered.
This is such a fringe problem, so I don't really expect much, but I thought I'd still bring it up. In all other cases, this mod has worked fine for me.
Edit: The same problem under different circumstances has already been reported under bugs, go figure.
Fun story to share. In vanilla New Vegas, you can kill NPCs with physics objects in broad daylight, while being witnessed, and because the physics object kills the NPC, you aren't labelled the killer and can loot the victim just fine.
So, having forgotten I installed this mod on a new save, I show up at the Mojave Outpost and see an NCR Ranger in their badass armor. Not wanting to get on the NCR's bad side this early and because I'm pretty weak, I remember there's a barrel I can beat the Ranger with. I proceed to drag the barrel over, and run at the barrel intending to kick the thing at the Ranger to cause damage. I nearly broke my own armor doing this alongside nearly losing the barrel several times and at one point, managed to lodge it into the roadside for a bit.
So I do this for several in-game hours, it's past sundown, and I punt the barrel straight at the Ranger one last time knocking them over dead. Cue an entire squadron of NCR troops gunning me down instantly on the spot.

11/10 best mod.
