About this mod

They say war never changes and 200 years after the last one, sure seems like it hasn't for Grunts like you! Covering a wider variety of weapons and rebalanced for a level 50 playthrough, this Grunt rework mod breaths new life into an otherwise-bland perk; exchanging some extra damage for wider variety and more flavour.

Grunt Perk Rework
Inspired by none other then Josh Sawyer himself along with an intense dislike for purely damage-boosting perks, Honest Hearts' Grunt perk has been tweaked and expanded to better fit the full NV experience; factoring in the level new 50 cap and all DLC as well. Despite the original giving a whopping +25% to several weapons, some of which were decently powerful already, actual game play wasn't affect much outside of things simply dying faster.

What GPR aims to do is fix that little issue by injecting some new life into an old war dog and giving it a couple of new toys to play with to boot.
Overview
As per Vanilla, the baseline Grunt perk can be acquired at Level 8 with 45 points in Guns and 20 in Explosives. However, the other aspects have undergone significant changes. For starters, the original damage boost has been knocked down from 25% to 15% and the affected weapons changed up (see below and gallery for more info). In addition to this, all of said items decay 10% slower; explained in-universe via intimate knowledge of how to maintain and repair them.

To be more specific, Grunt now covers all Assault Carbines (GRA), Dogtag Fists, Flash Bangs, Flare Guns, Hatchets, Incendiary Grenades, and Shovels in addition to 9mm Pistols and SMGs, Assault Carbines (vanilla), Service Rifles, and The Survivalist's Rifle.

The rest of the weapons have been moved to a new perk called Combat Specialist.

Combat Specialist is a new perk available at level 15. To acquire it, Grunt needs to be taken already along with having 60 points in Guns and 40 in Explosives. Combat Specialist provides +10% damage to the weapons mentioned below and reduces their spread by 15% as well.

The weapons affected are all 10mm Pistols and SMGs, 25mm APWs, Automatic Rifles, Battle Rifles, Throwing Knives, and Throwing Hatchets along with .45 Auto Pistols and SMGs, Light Machine Guns, Grenade Launchers, and Grenade Rifles.

Notes
All unique weapons which fall under any of the buffed weapon types (IE: This Machine for Battle Rifles, Bozar for LMGs), are covered. I simply didn't list them to keep the actual lists short and concise. See gallery for detailed, easy-to-read lists if you'd really like to see everything covered.

Marksman Rifles and the All-American have been excluded entirely. Although the new perk is called "Combat Specialist" and I briefly considered adding both to the list, ultimately decided not to. Both are already fairly powerful weapons, a damage buff and spread reduction would only make them even more so. Lore-wise... let's just say not all soldiers are cut out to be marksmen.
As to why I split Grunt into two perks, I wanted to make it less powerful and provide some actual depth beyond "ha ha, soldier man go bang" in a game well-known for being though-out in many regards. The increased variety in weaponry also means builds utilizing these perks will have more options to choose from whilst still not making any of them particularly "over-powered". Just because you're (potentially) roleplaying as a soldier doesn't mean you should be as brainless as a stereotypical CoD player.
Bugs
Something may be up with vanilla UI which causes the perks' description text to spill over the menu background instead of enabling scrolling. I don't know if this is a fixable issue and/or if there's a solution to it. Without scrolling though, this actually causes a CTD so I've had to shorten the descriptions to avoid said problem. If there's an solution to this, please let me know.

Also, as someone new to editing perks, much less making new ones, let me know if something doesn't function right! I'm 95% sure everything performs as intended but if all your weapons seem to be degrading slower after Combat Specialist then I'll need to figure out how to apply the effect to an actual list. Wasn't sure how to do that upon release but if anyone else does, let me know and I'll update the mod ASAP to fix the issue.

Compatibility
Grunt's technical name and original item list was left untouched to maximize compatibility with other mods. However, the original perk entry has been modified.

If any further changes are made to GPR, I may make a duplicate of Grunt and disable the original perk (likely via script) to ensure 100% compatibility and avoid overlap with other mods which may affect it in some way, shape, or form.
