Hey! I really appreciate what you have incorporated here, but I was wondering if I could confirm something. After installing, I went to Camp Searchlight at night, and it was basically a black screen. I couldn't see anything. I fast traveled somewhere else, and my screen was fine. I almost had a panic attack because I thought my gpu got screwed or something! But I went back in the day time, and the visibility is normal and the weathers for Searchlight look great. So this seems to be something that is only happening at night for me. Anyways, endorsed! I will post if I figure out anything else for anyone else who is having this issue.
Had this issue too. The brunt solution was to remove the nighttime image space for Searchlight. More specifically, SearchlightISUpdate (or something named like that) in xEdit.
The record that seems to be doing it is the image space adapter NVSearchLightNightISUPDATE but I have no idea why. I tried everything to make it work but it would just give me that black screen in the night of searchlight, again. I decided enough was enough so I manually copied the record from Restored Weathers and IMODS itself and fixed Altitude's searchlight weather record to match and voila, it works.
hi, what happened to your fnv optimization overhaul mod since the page doesn't exist anymore, is it broken? if so please reply to this comment so I'll know to stop using it. Thanks
Great supplement for Altitude, ngl. But can you make darker night version please? There is many darker night mods on nexus, but they either override Altitude or make the day brighter at the same time.
Okay, I found this interesting issue. The night sky becomes considerably less bright when exiting cells (although briefly) or when entering vehicles? (brightness returns when exiting).
Looks quite interesting! Will definitely give it a try later!
I have two questions, though:
1) Does this work with the 'Alternate Nights' add-on that the original Altitude mod offers?
2) I see that you recommend 'Night Sky Tweaks' even though Altitude (the original) doesn't have the bright horizons issue--Is there still a benefit to installing it, that I just can't spot?
Anyway, I'm really excited to try this mod! And I really appreciate the recommended mods section, as there were a couple that I hadn't seen before! Thanks!
1) No, I have my own tweaks for nighttime which includes replacement of Altitude's nights with Restored Weather and IMODS' nights (which looks preferably better, in my opinion).
2) I believe I have tweaked and fixed this issue. Additionally, I'd also recommend Dusty Distance Redone to turn the distant fog's colour into something western-esque.
Yeah, that sounds really interesting. Can't wait to try it out when I'm done with work today! I have just one question: have you fixed IMODS' nighttime Strip weather?
1) Is there any chance you would take the time, to make a version of the mod that has all of your nighttime tweaks, but also imitates the 'Alternate Nights' add-on? Or is it straight forward enough, that I (a novice) would be able to do it with FNVEdit?
2) I did a quick test, to see if there was any noticeable difference while using the original Altitude (and yours, on another occasion) with Night Sky Tweaks, and I couldn't see anything drastic enough to notice a change. So it seems with both your mod--and the original--that Night Sky Tweaks is arbitrary.
Dusty Distance Redone certainly looks like something I'll be trying out! Thanks!
1) Yes, if you know your ways around in FNVEdit from a basic level, you can easily do that. Just edit the values as needed.
2) The reason I recommend Night Sky Tweaks is because of the included options that they can toggle on or off. In any case it does not hurt to keep NST in your current game installation and it does not use any plugin slots as well.

EDIT: yup, it was Friend Of The Night perk.
