Did you wait the in-game week for everything to disappear or otherwise use the optional file to make it disappear immediately?

Have you considered making this mod compatible with Nipton Rebuilt or allowing someone else to patch it?
It might be a lot of work, but I imagine there is some manner that could reverse the worldspace additions that mod makes to Nipton.

Not something I’d be very interested in doing myself for a number of reasons.

let me start by making this clear:

i respect and greatly appreciate any dev that can mod as its something i cant and when i comment its to review and surgest what could be added/ improved so those that dont like that just skip this post:

this mod reminds me of the mod "nipton rebuilt" which did the same but added a few npc's.

removal of the crucifixes is understandable from a in game point of view if you are going to add npc's same as removing the dead bodies but you have made the same mistake "nipton rebuilt" made aka  you only cleaned the outside of nipton and not the town hall.

you didnt add npc's to each room or turn each floor into its own "town" as there is literally enough space to make some rooms bedrooms or lounges/ kitchens/ dinners/ offices/ workshops or stores (i do this using RTS and other mods) so as i say a good "start" but needs work

if this is part of an on going mod that will build on this then i think this is a great foundation for that but if this is all the mod is going to be then it needs more added to it

Nipton Rebuilt added a bunch of new world spaces, an approach I don't really like. Also, it's not unreasonable to think the NCR wouldn't want crucifixes on its territory and would clean up the area just for the optics of it. Also, I did clean up the town hall, albeit admittedly very minimally. The bodies and mongrels are gone. I made a decision to leave the blood splatter. For one, I thought it was an interesting statement of the lasting impact of violence. For two, wood stains very easily.

As for the general clutter in the town hall and the knocked over chairs et cetera? On the master to do list.

having tried "nipton rebuilt" all it adds is:

      a cinema full of raiders
a building that is a refference to HalfLife
      a vendor selling basic food
a cooking grill and shower in a house
a robot with a quest to a small cave to find a radio transmitter

"nipton rebuilt" was good if slightly generic but i always felt the town hall would make a better "town" as it has the interior space to do a lot with so if this is an on going project i can see this being much better. the blood and floor stains make sense although should be removed at some point as nobody wants blood or bodies where they live.

from a personal perspective making it an NCR town wouldn't work as i use the mod "claim the mojave" so the Khans can replace NPC's in small locations so having nipton as an NCR town would conflict as that mod lets you add NPC's to the small raider camp on the road to nipton but having an option to set which faction reclaims nipton would be a good idea that way it could be BOS/ legion/ House or Khans but maybe thats just something i would want not what others would want

I personally much prefer that the less that gets added the better when it comes to "clean up" mods. I don't want a bunch of new rooms or structures or NPCs, etc. I don't know if this mod touches the other buildings besides the town hall but the best possible version would be a clean slate over everything with some remnants of the carnage that make sense to stay there. there's a place for clean up mods, and a place for mods that completely overhaul an area. for those of us that just want a clean up, we'd like it to stay it that way instead of a bunch of new stuff we're not interested in.

i agree that adding new structures and overly cleaning the town would destroy the history of the town but adding a few vendors in different rooms in the town hall would add a touch of realism to it and save on adding new buildings. there are at least 3 big rooms in the town hall (first room on the ground floor with the reception desk and turned over chairs/ back room ground floor/ right side room second floor) that would make good spaces for merchants or possible player homes or you could clean up the looked door basement and make it a small player home and do like i do with other mods which is use the smaller rooms for different set areas aka crafting/ kitchen/ followers rooms. a good alternative to fully cleaning nipton is the mod that adds the bodies hanging from a dead tree which is a Witcher 3 reference as it removes the Legion feel but still lets people know what happens to those looking to do harm to the town

I really appreciate your input, but I'm still mulling over a few different options on how to approach it. The Town Hall provides an interesting challenge as it's a HUGE space, which frankly means if I really try to fill it up I'll likely cause performance issues. For that reason and because there are several intact vacant houses (a half dozen at least, not to mention a trailer park) I doubt I'll have people reside in the town hall itself.

I could see something on a market getting put in there, something like the market in Rivet City in Fallout 3 maybe. As far how it relates to any other mods, I'm not too worried about that unless it's a mod I personally use.

It's all very early days still. I'm not even to the point of scripting in generic NPCs yet.

i can understand the performance issues thing and using the existing houses for npc's is sensible but you can still utilise the town hall and make it a mix of merchants/ a saloon  and as i said a player home

While you're at it you could add generic prospectors or hobos or maybe even a generic merchant wandering about, using the houses and such, to add some life to the town for a change. Just an idea though.

if you are going to add NPC's i would recommend cleaning each room of the town hall and using them as bedrooms/ homes, shops or living spaces for NPC's as the town has limited space

good idea but if you do that you are likely to get compared to "nipton rebuilt" and nexus might even dox you for it a better solution would be to have the merchants in different rooms in the town hall that way you could have a weapon seller/ Gun Runner etc and use the houses for named NPC's

Hmm, I get that the fires would be out and the bodies would have decomposed.
But why do the crucifixes just disappear?
Why not still have the crucifixes just with skeletons instead of powder gangers? [or just no bodies on them.]

Bc I’m working on other mods in and around Nipton and I thought they were an eye soar. Not everything is about realism.

That said, I feel like someone from a nearby NCR camp would have cleaned it up. Like I doubt the New California Republic would wanna keep that s#*! up in a town that’s located within the borders of prewar California. It’s a bad look.

I wonder, how it works? Does it notice that you've visited the city or unlocked the fast travel marker and then starts the cleanup timers? Or in some other way?
And how does it tolerate instalation in the middle of the game, when you already visited the town for example, rather than on fresh save?
Also worry a bit about FNV Redesigned compability, though not so much as about everything above.

It detects if the map marker is discovered and starts the timer. If you install it mid run the timer would count normally, hence the optional file which runs the script immediately.

Love this and would love to see where it goes. It always confused me that no one cleaned up Nipton after the legion raided it, especially considering how its right in NCR territory.

Nice, even got rid of the tyres too. Kind of weird to think Nipton is just left burning for eternity with bodies forever left on their poles to (not) rot.
