Hey nice mod man, always thought there should be something like this for New Vegas. Btw, if you're still working on a one with npcs, I agree it's not as needed but there are plenty of quests you should look into. For instance this one where some ncr guard will kill someone if you complete the quest "right" so to speak. You should focus on small parts like that, instead of an all-encompassing solution. Idk, just an idea

perhaps that's the whole point of the quest?

Is that a joke reply? I honestly can't tell lol. I suppose you could argue that character is essential to the story as in keep the ncr morally ambiguous but I thought the point was to provide a way to complete certain quests without death being needed. You know, "modify" the original game?

I'd be down to use this just to avoid murdering an entire generation of Deathclaws. ( Not just the men, but the women and children too.. )

It never sat right with me to try to avoid unnecessary casualties with every other type of creature, unless you count gathering ingredients from them; but it was open season on Deathclaws or the quest would never be completed.

      Right????

It was that forced quest that basically started the ball rolling in my head toward this mod. I'm working on a version that includes options for failed non-lethal options regarding people, but frankly it's so easy to not kill people in New Vegas that that wasn't the priority. Even with relatively low stats, I could talk my way out of most situations.

There are two quests though involving animals, however, that just made my brain stutter. One was bad, the other was worse. The one that was bad was the Nellis fire ants, you couldn't use some kind of ant repellant on them, nor could you shepherd them away somehow. If you wanted the Boomers for your ending, you had to kill them. That was bad enough. The deathclaw quest, however, was worse. There was just so much bile in that one, it was so salty.

I've read prior about how Avellone hates deathclaws and it's all I could think of when doing that quest. It's kind of obvious someone really hates them. And frankly, murdering them just didn't sit well with me. What if I could just do something about their aggression instead? That's what lead to the creation of this mod. Which then lead to the Nellis fire ant quest being covered, the gecko quests being covered, the one general Mojave quest involving fire ants being covered, and the one involving fire ants in tunnels being covered too. Which I'm pretty sure is all of them.

There's just a weird ugliness to it. I mean, daethclaws are no more sapient than a cat. They're just very big cats and humans are mice. It's just a perspective thing. And really, I just don't support cullings. It's never the right option in reality, either. Whenever a culling happens, it's always revealed to be a mistake after the fact, which no one ever learns from. Kind of like climate disaster!

So, yes. Not everyone has to like or use this mod—intelligent minds can differ—but for those who were bothered by this bizarre blemish on an otherwise really awesome game? It's here.
