FYI: The model depicted here IS NOT the up-armored variant of the HMMWV. All of the parts of the body shown are in fact made of lightweight fiberglass, what we in the Army (and Marines) like to call "thin skin", because it really is quite thin. Even the hood, which is one complete unit that tilts forward, is fiberglass. The doors? Fiberglass, so light you can literally lift them right out of their sockets with no more than ten pounds of upward force. The windows and windshield? HAH! They barely even qualify as tempered safety glass, and certainly aren't bulletproof.
These are the same kinds of HMMWVs that were rolling through the streets of Nasiriyah, Baghdad, and Al Kut with no ass (armored or aviation support) to back them up. s#*!, even those "rear view" mirrors are such trash you'd probably snap them off just trying to adjust them. The vehicle is so wide, and the mirrors are such garbage that it's practically a requirement (even without Uncle Sam saying so) to have a co-driver to help you see out the passenger-side mirror and windshield (because usually you have a giant fuckin radio and a blue force tracker blocking your front-right field of vision).
I tell ya, I do not miss having to exist in even the most remotest proximity of one of these things, and it tickles me that anyone would consider them to be a viable tactical vehicle, with their shitty 4-cylinder diesel engines that have been run on JP-5 kerosene for about 350k miles up and down some of the worst terrain on shocks that have zero tension left in the spring and should've been swapped every 50k miles. And don't even get me started on how easy it is just to ROLL ONE OVER! If you were to try and hit a car with a humvee, you wouldn't smash it out of the way (and thereby annihilating the fiberglass), you'd more likely just drive right over it and flop onto your side like a tard-fish.
There are absolutely no safety features; the seatbelt would strangle you and break your ribs with how stiff it is after being soaked through with sweat and dust. The seats are just thin cushions put on top a steel bench (probably some of the only non-essential metal in the entire vehicle) that would most certainly flatten you like a waffle in the event of a head-on crash. Airbags? HAH! That's why you're required to wear a helmet when you're in one, there's not only NO airbags, but a LOT of sharp corners on the interior, all perfect for turning your concussion (because that kevlar helmet is NOT meant for blunt force trauma) into a full blown TBI should you decide not to wear (or have a lack of) a helmet.
But, hey, at least you can manually control all the lights-- and by can, I mean, you have to. If you forget to turn off ALL of the lights, including the dashboard light (which is literally just a little bulb to illuminate the speedometer and RPM gauge), you will in fact kill the battery, that will, in all likelihood, kill itself regardless if you don't turn the fuckin pieceashit on every other day.
I'll check if I still have the substance painter project file and see if I can make a desert tan texture for it. Current one in the mod is based on the real life national guard humvee that is used in the location new vegas is set in.
I could make it, id love to see a desert retex. If i do could i use the humvee in my mod? I was going to make one myself. Did you do all the rigging and everything or use the information from driveable cars? Id really like to know how, if its just rigging a car up to a skeleton that would work (chimera tank) and redo havok so the gravity works. Increase speed, add hud and gas. Just trying to wrap my head around it. Im doing custom skeleton and it seems like those arent as hard as i initially thought.
Using the Rambler mod from years back. Would I still have to apply the fix in the description to be compatible or is it safe to use as its based off the XRE cars system?
For some reason whenever I drive this thing now, starting today, july 28th, 2023, the humvee starts to like…jerk around and stutter and bounce to the point where it’s almost undriveable. I don’t know what happened. I’ve tried spawning in another humvee and the same thing happened as well. Like it’s not as smooth as it was yesterday and the day before, i’ve even reinstalled the mod.
I think the only thing i did today was update New Vegas Tick Fix and download a fix for combat lag. Is there a way to fix this?
I do have 187 mods loaded up. Maybe that might have something to do with it?
First off, the mod is amazing. I’ve never had this much fun with new vegas in my life before now.
Secondly, for some reason my humvee just straight up disappeared (like i walked into one area and then went back and “poof”, gone) when i went to go talk to pearl up at nellis to get the quest to raise the b52 bomber from lake mead. Is there any way to get it back? I had like…30 vault suits for vault 21 and like 8 cans of gasoline as well as gas masks and guns and food. I had the tracker on it, but it’s not showing it on the map when i go to the area it’s supposed to be at. It’s like it got thanos snapped or like someone stole it.

If anyone wants a less "brown" and lighter-colored version of it done right, ask me. I'll see what can be done.
