Hello and welcome to the tiniest mod I've every considered posting. YES, it is a batch file. The only thing worse than using one of these is not having one to use. I cannot attest that this works with all replacement devices such as the Readius, as I don't use any of them, however it should. Feel free to post your results for other users.
I also realize that this game is a hundred years old, but it is considered by many to be the #1 Fallout ever and I concur. When you've got all your textures and settings done, it still looks better than most games published today and of course... IT JUST WORKS!

For the record, not receiving the pipboy is not an issue with RAS; it is an old mod, which means people would have been dealing with an issue as gamebreaking as not getting the pip-boy for a long time already. Nor is there an issue with the Doc Mitchell intro occuring.
I thought maybe there could be an issue with the mod and xNvse, so just to be sure I checked RAS myself, and yeah, it works fine.
Your load order or something else about your install is what's actually at fault.
Probably a simple conflict, mon ami, but it matters not. However your pipboy/girl manages to escape, this is simply here to lasso the thing and get it back on your arm. ~GMF~
For the disappearing pipboy, I have found that having both Better Character Creation and RAS installed creates this issue as well as forcing Doc Mitchell to lock you into character creation mode again in his house.
