Probably balance. It's pretty jarring to have a 4k asset next to low quality anything else. Kinda defeats having it in the first place if it doesn't fit in well with others.
Parallax textures are a pain in this game because the UV unwraps are all sloppy. It has nothing to do with 4k 2k being next to 512/256... the effect is good when it works on things it's supposed to work on. Wooden Crates don't need parallax anyway, they have no surface variation. If you want convincing woodgrain and bumpy rivets, that's best done between the normal and specular maps. Well probably model the rivets so they don't go flat at extreme angles. Which I think this mod has already done
Hello, I've also came to realise that parallax textures are best for things such as walls or floors, adding them to 3d meshes doesnt really work since parallax tries to mimic 3D depth on a plane, so applying it to a mesh when I've tried just fucks up the edges of the mesh, great mod Bale
Hey, Bale! Ironically you are NOT the one who made the hay bales mod. Kek. I had reservations about this mod because I didn't like the font change for the "XXX" on crates but I got over it pretty quickly after seeing how CRATE they look in game (shoot me now).
Have you seen nvnellisartillery.nif? Just sayin'.... I tried to upscale that ugly sucker's textures from 512 to 2K but it was A) insufficient source detail and B) only made the geometry more obvious. Also wirepile01.nif could really use some of your magic. Thanks for all your mods!!
After playing awhile, The only pieces I didn't like seeing after awhile is the darker water crates and large wood shipping boxes. The water crates I could believe is actually inside a metal frame; I never thought wood was a strong enough material for those barrels of water.
I'm not asking, and I know you can't do anything about it as they share the same wood texture, just nicer to have a bit of variety. Other than that, great work; looking forward to seeing more!
