Is "Accurate Stars - Mothership Zeta Patch" now a part of the newest version or should I still download that if I want the space sections to use your star texture and remove the weird coloured clouds?
still download if you want the space sections to use my texture.
the newest version has an auto patcher for world space climates but the space sections in zeta and the frontier use a different method for stars that still require a manual patch
i'm only seeing the zion climates directly using the nvdlc02 filepath and no scripts changing it that way. unless i'm missing something, my own script should be just fine to change the filepath back to default
This is a great night sky, I love the 8k texture for my 4k monitor!
Is it possible to get a pitch black night sky instead of a dark blue? Would that require changing weather settings? Or is New Vegas just not capable of displaying a pitch black sky background at night?
you can but you would have to change the weather settings. specifically, change the values of “Horizon” “Sky Lower” and “Sky Upper” for both Night and Midnight for each of the different weathers to zeros
Thanks! I suggested black night skies to the Desert Natural Weather mod author, and have already started to use your info to turn weathers' nights black too. :)
Man, this is a slightly bigger project than I thought. Now that the skies are dark, distant terrain looks too light, so I need to adjust that. Plus I realized I was operating off the DNW weather settings and not the Realism Redux that I have overriding it. D'oh! >.<
You'd laugh if you knew how many hours I devoted to finding a good starfield. It was pretty ironic that the skystars from Skyrim was one of my best candidates, simply because each star was a single pixel. Almost every starfield mod out there tends to represent a great number of stars (especially the larger ones) as ovals or blobs, but you can't go wrong with single pixels I guess. I eventually settled upon a hodgepodge from multiple sources.
Somebody finally understood this lack. It's appreciated.
Dude, I get it. I really do. Hell, I even went farther and redid some starfields for Skyrim (fantasy, but stock and most mods looked like crap regardless). Add to that I grew up near around the area New Vegas takes place in the early game. Spent a loooot of time with dad and later on my own kids staring at that same sky. Not crucial, but makes a difference in a special way.
For whatever reason I had to hide DNW's .nif to get it to work. It's the one mod MO2 (or probably my frankenstein build of it) won't properly overwrite.
Whenever I start my game, this mod works great! I can see the whole night sky perfectly.
However, after entering and leaving buildings, it messes up. The stars disappear, and instead there's a big white semi-circle off to one direction.
The only thing I can think of that broke is that I had to revalidate files after breaking my Gun Runners esm, but I reactivated this mod just to be safe and it still does it.
Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. I don't have any other weather mods downloaded, and I installed the archive invalidation invalidated to try and fix it. It still bugs out after a couple loading screens
It looks like the default sky with one giant white semi circle to the south. I never thought to take a screenshot of it, next time it happens (which it should happen soon if I don't crash in fifteen minutes, I've been having issues since revalidating files), I'll post it.
UPDATE: I think I found out what the problem was, I didn't think of it until I actually was thinking about this comment. I redid the 4gb patch as a precaution and it solved all my crashing issues and the sky glitch I was having as well. Apparently revalidating the files must've reset the .exe and I didn't catch it until now
