I seem to be having a similar issue but with the 5.56 pistol, I'm sure that it was caused by the ballistics mod I just downloaded that causes bullet drop, but I have to ask how you went about this fix and if there's a simple way I might be able to apply it to the 5.56.

I'm having problem with this fix, 32 pistol is shooting exclamation signs but when disabling the fix the original bug comes back. Using TTW 3.3.2

Edit: moved post to bugs section

To get maximum use out of this fix, you additem to get Law Dog and Wild Bill Sidearm at start. That is on Capital Wasteland side, aka proper start of Tale of Two Wasteland. Also possibly early stage of the Pitt where you are empty handed and Wild Bill Sidearm would be better than the steenkeeng concealed .32 pistol.

Start on Mojave side you are unlikely to get any use, since even if you return CW with nothing on your inventory, you are still unlikely to use .32 pistol.

MIND YOU, if @sweet6shooter can release a dual .32 pistol akimbo mod (which is not out), you possibly get even more use out of this fix.

The biggest problem with the .32 caliber guns in DC is that they are .32 caliber. Bethesda did this with Fallout 3 and 4; by "this," I mean they picked a caliber that, while historically present, would have been anachronistic even by the 1950s, which is the rough point at which Fallout's history diverged from ours.

There are several .32 caliber pistol cartridges that were prevalent in the late 19th century and early 20th century, and even a few that were used in carbines or rifles, such as the Smith and Wesson .32 Long. Similarly, for Fallout 4, the .38 cartridge so prevalent for pipe guns could be any number of different .38 caliber cartridges present throughout the early 20th century. Most notable is the .38 Special, but that is a rimmed revolver cartridge that wouldn't work well in an automatic gun. The most suitable .38 caliber cartridge would be the .38 ACP, but that one, like the .32 Whatever in Fallout 3, is underpowered compared to the 9mm Parabellum/Luger, which long predates the timeline divergence. Why Bethesda likes misusing calibers so much is beyond me.

The .32 revolver would be a lot more useful as a .38 Special or .357 Magnum, and the hunting rifle would be better suited as a 5.56 or .308. I've been using the .32 pistol to great effect in my game thus far, but I buffed its damage to put it just below that of the 9mm pistol, and changed the long barrel mod to increase its damage instead of its accuracy. Combined with the match ammo, it's a surprisingly competent headshot weapon, and Wild Bill's Sidearm becomes even better with its bonus critical damage.

Conditional in keeping .32 as is (ie no change to ammo stat) the problem is entirely the pistol and the rifle.

Counter example is A World With Pain For Fallout 3 (and TTW) mod introduce .32 SMG .Its typically a 10mm SMG rechambered and it WORKS. The damage is still puny, but the amount of lead you put into target is enough that a crit can sometimes happen and stagger targets a bit.

The problem with .32 pistol. beside the freaking puny damage, is the unattractiveness of it. Think Lucky, the .357 revolver: why do you like it? Because of the annoying reloading motion (beloved by us fans), and also high crit chance. .32 pistol is more like police pistol, but nothing linked it to police hat, sheriff duster, or perks.
+++ Which remind me, a replacer to change .32 pistol to police pistol would be very welcome.

The problem with .32 rifle is entirely the unattractiveness of it. All of it. This s#*! is like varmint rifle, I dont get why any would care about it.

To speak a nice word about .32 pistol

Its bloody fast. You can point it at target and click fire button as fast as you can. Its responsiveness should be best of all guns.

The normal 32 is nothing special, but Law Dog and Wild Bill Sidearm does have crit effect on. So technically a high crit player can make use out of these guns by shooting real time and pump target full of lead~
