It's a different thing. While that mod makes laser weapons use "bullets" (projectiles have travel time) instead of "beams" (projectile instantly hits target), my mod just makes beams not be attached to a weapon while still preserving the way beam works.
If the flash of light remains visible for seconds, it should move with respect to the light source (the muzzle). Think of a flashlight. If you turn it on and off, on and off whilst moving it around, the beam of light will move with the flashlight instead of staying directed at its original target.
Lol weasel, it's really easy to ignore a simple visual alternative mod like this if people don't wanna use it, so I wonder why the hell it bothers you so much.
What your seeing as the laser probably isn't visible spectrum photons being bounced off of particles in the air from the laser but instead that the laser is so high energy it ionizes particles in the air making them emissive. I think it's reasonable to assume that with such a high powered laser you would want it to switch as quickly as possible (usually this is so it doesn't break, but there could be other serious safety reasons for a laser like this). This mod reflects reality more closely than vanilla imo.
First off, it's immersion. Not emersion. Secondly, this is more realistic. Lasers aren't tied to your gun and endlessly channeled. It's a beam of light. Of course it will detach. Thirdly, this is how it is in 4/76 iirc. And again, because it makes more sense.
Holy s*** this is so much better. Every time I tried to use laser weapons in New Vegas this kept annoying me enough to switch off to guns. The lasers always felt like big sticks that you just swing around from the end of the gun, they never felt like focused blasts of energy.
Not doing a playthrough at the moment, but this is definitely on the list for when I do. Maybe I'll finally get that energy weapon playthrough done.
