There's no visible difference between 4k and 2k if you won't compare it side by side IMO, but the lesser size of textures makes the game run better. So for me, it's an exchange of non-visible quality for a more stabilized and optimized game.
Many people follow guides or such and it's always suggested to just stick with 2K textures because of game limitations on the old engine, not PC limitations.
