Now this is an interesting and balanced way to changeup Dead Money runs. Will definitely be using this the next time I go to the Madre.

Been over a year and I have gone to the Madre again, loving this for how it changes things up. The Shotgun being in good condition when you find it is a bit weird, but I understand that being the case due to its volatile durability loss. I wish we had more mods like this for Dead Money because of how poor its options are.

I gotta say, as hard as Dead Money is, it always feel like it could be far more challenging, so this is cool. A rusty, busted up shotgun that only has bean bag round that do KO damage to the ghost people. Those fuckers are hard to kill in the first place unless DOG/GOD is in your party or you just "kill" command them. Even the supposed "strongest gun in the game", the Holorile, doesn't outright kill them.

Nah, the importance is not beanbag, but a riot shotgun. Even a downgraded riot shotgun would be a nice improvement over the caravan shotgun you found. With luck and planning you might just be able to put 3 shots onto their legs thus breaking it~

I generally go to Sierra Madre in middling to high level , so I have handloader perk. Make a few magnum rounds and you can do the job easily.

In TTW, we can find some shotgun rounds in the Villa. More in the Suites of course, but it's useless by then.

I can see that, but from the way I play, (Max difficulty, lot of tweeks from LStewieAL to make it even harder), I think the bean bag ammo has equal importance to the broken shotgun. Either way, you're less reliant of the holorifle or automatic rifle.
I'm thinking of getting the adjustable cloud damage mod, and running it with Vicious wastes just to see how often I'm gonna die lol

Eh, regarding cloud poison I find that vanilla level is bad enough. This is coming from several runs, including one with A world with pain for dead money thrown in for good measure. Vanilla balance is very well done, with Dean help me stay inside cloud longer thus explore better. Christine is less useful, because once we know position of radios and loudspeakers (several reruns), we can shoot them down and have less trouble with them. Dog? Who care about Dog.

Auto rifle is too freaking useless. I can never use it properly, even with high skill and steady cheated in for good measure. Always have a feeling it missed more than it hit.

Holorifle is very nice. Pity I am a guns player rather than energy. So other than one intentional-energy-only run, most runs it collect dust in my inventory.
