Guys, if you are experiencing troubles with stutters and crashes when using this gorgeous mod (just like i did), so you need to go to your New Vegas Tick Fix (NVTF) ini file and set iTweakRCSafeGuard to 2. Also you need to set bModifyDirectXBehavior to 1. And problem almost goes away, but remaining stutters wil be almost unnoticeable. It helped me very much
This mod makes the grass way too green for a desert. The enormous contrast between grass and the rest of the desert looks weird. I recommend installing George's Landscape Retextured after this mod which solves the issue.
This mod doesn't edit grass textures. The only green grass included in this mod are about two landscape textures that are already green in vanilla and are color matched, being only used sparingly in the game in select locations like the strip or camp golf.
I saw that landscape texture in Goodsprings as well. Possibly added by Goodsprings Reborn. And I saw it in the strip as you say. Even there it was too green IMO, even though it's more fitting there since you can pretend that it's being watered there.
At least in my setup that landscape texture is much greener in your mod than in both vanilla and George's Landscape Retextured.
Anyway, great mod. It's just that specific texture that I think is out of place.
Yeah, it looks like Goodsprings Reborn uses the suburb grass, which I assume is pre-war grass? Either way, it looks a lot more saturated, which is great for pre-war but probably not for Goodsprings specifically. I just took that specific grassgreensuburb01.dds into an editor and turned down the saturation/brightness (mostly because it was easier than going into the Goodsprings Reborn files to swap out the texture there) and bingo bango. Not to say the original was at all bad, I think it was just a combination of Goodsprings Reborn's setup and my own Reshade making it really stick out.
Hello, I'm new here. Your mod is beautiful but I see it only changes the landscape. I like NMC because it includes also the interiors but imo the landscapes aren't that pretty. Is it possible to somehow connect these two mods or it's better to find a new mod focusing on the rest objects?
Fully generated LOD terrain and object it seems like the color of the rock lod is different than the actual rocks so when it pops in its kind of jarring is there a recomended load order placement for this mod?
That depends what you want overwriting what. LOD should not be significantly darker than full models, but does have added darkness and contrast otherwise the pop-in you mentioned is prevalent.
I'm having this same issue. Every time I generate an LOD it gives me these gray rocks that don't match. What did you put towards then end of your mod list? The Legacy Reborn mod or the lodgen file?
I'm thinking maybe the new textures in this mod is adapted to it's own meshes and have been changed so much that they no longer fit vanilla-styled meshes.
Tried all the texture packs and combinations. ( Nmc, ojo with nuts, and other combos) But i've decided NMC with its landscape folders deleted, combined with this texture pack is the best looking to me IMO.
Thanks for sharing all your other mods too they really do help make the game look up to date.
Hi Spiff, loving the texture pack, it's a staple in my load order. For the longest time even in vanilla, these rock edge lip things have really irked me and I don't think anyone's blended them well (personal hot take). Is there anything that could possibly be done to mitigate them?
More dark edge eyesores, the more you notice them, the harder it is to forget they're there:
This pack really doesnt seem to be optimized. Once this is enabled, the game stutters all few seconds and sometimes gets stuck for one second with sound cutting out even while loading in the new textures. Seems to be a real bother for the engine to load these textures and it seems like there is no compression or optimization on them either.
Usually this would sound like a hardware problem but its not. I load other 4K textures just fine and yes modifydirectxbehaviour is also enabled. I am also on a NVME M2 drive.
You download the highest version. Of course it doesn't run well.
I'll explain this further to avoid confusion. This game was made to run 512x512 textures with exception of 1024x1024. Adding a *couple* 4096x4096 textures to you game will be fine. Now, covering the entire game in 2048x2048 with exceptions of 4096x4096? No wonder you're encountering problems. Recommend for gameplay is medium or low. High is for super computers or screenshots.
For anyone wondering, the stuttering is due to the entire pack being loose and uncompressed files. If Spiffy were to compress his excellent textures and if he or the end user were to pack them into an archive, you will find performance should be completely unhindered provided you've done it correctly, have enough VRAM, are using the correct NVTF preset, and aren't having other issues from different mods.
In my tests I was able to run the highest quality version of the mod on an HDD without hitching or stuttering. I suggest utilizing the linked requirements to aid in poor game performance. If you run this, or any other high resolution texture pack on a vanilla game you will encounter issues.
Packing the textures into an archive is a good shout ARavenOfManyHats, and a practise which is a lot more common in F4's modding community, for performance sake. Though correct me if I'm wrong, if packing into an archive, any loose meshes and texture files you may have installed will simply take precedence over Legacy Reborn.
Meaning, if you have NMC and various LOD supplementation mods, they will take priority over Legacy Reborn, which is packed away in an archive.

Is it a bad idea to install them after this mod?

Also, side note, will we see Desperados 2 before HL3 comes out?

Bit of a shame, the textures look nice.
