When I reload with a partial magazine the animation can be cancelled by crouching/jumping/using sights etc. Is this a quirk of the mod or is it on my end?
back during the early days, I LOVED the Realistic Reloading mod, it made my gameplay so great. I was so happy to finally END my stupid gamer reflex of always reloading with no consequences. but due to multiple issues, leaving NV for a while, and things getting worse with its functionality being outdated? even if I still wanted to use it, it was more frustrating.
That being said... I am SO HAPPY to find you! This mod, so far during the current build of 1.5, is perfect! You get super Kudos from me! Thank you so much!
Your comment in the bug report section caught my eye. This is something that I have not noticed and is actually a pretty big flaw in the mod. How would you like to get access to the partial magazine of an ammo type that you do not have any loose ammo for? Using the "switch ammo" hotkey would not work.
Was attempting to help with an issue I thought I could replicate since the OP wasn't being cooperative. Wasn't able to replicate it, but found interesting information on what I could find.
I am no modding genius, and wouldn't be able to help give the best ideas on how to fix this issue. But, if I had to think of options:
1: The game already registers 0/0 for normal ammunition with or without this mod, and as long as there's a magazine for the gun to use, this mod can still reload a partial in its place. Maybe there's a way to make the game register the different ammo types as 0/0 so we can switch to it to THEN give the partial mag access?
2: Could one potentially code a "switch ammo" combined with the partial mag hotkey? So that we can "reload partial mag of next ammo type" to work?
Those are the best ideas I can come up with, and like I said I ain't a modder or a coder, so I have no idea how hard either of these might be to implement. if not, then I apologize in advance... still a great mod though, will still use it no matter what bugs hit me! (was even still using the broken Realistic Reload mod I had on a backup drive till I found this.)
I meant from a user perspective. Sorry for the miscommunication. The problem of how to actually achieve switching the ammo. If I somehow made it so the weapon could switch to an ammo type that the player does not have then you would have to cycle through all of the ammo types of the weapon and hope to land on the one you want.
I could add a menu that could show what ammo types you have in partial magazines and let the player choose from that, however that's quite clunky and not very.....immersive.
I'll talk to a couple of modding gurus about the problem and see what they think. Thank you for the information and "Bug" report.
Hi, when using this mod and cycling through ammo types, it makes my current magazine be discarded as a partial magazine, even if it's full. My change ammo key is still the default of 2.
As a suggestion, maybe find another, slower way to consolidate magazines? Like say have to do it through the pip-boy? Or perhaps add a cooldown timer of some sort?
I find myself automatically hitting the hotkey after every firefight which is too quick of a solution IMO.
Would maybe a fade to black and in-game time passing work (It probably wouldn't work with ENB though....)? I would like to play an animation but I'm not sure if there are any animations that would work very well. Maybe using the partial magazines would be the solution but then you would have to navigate through your misc tab (gross).
I do agree I find myself doing the same thing as you.
I was thinking something like a timer - say you don't get your restored ammo from partial magazines until a minute or so after pressing the button. MCM customization for that value would be nice too.
I don't think you'd necessarily have to add an actual animation, that seems like a lot of work for not so much reward IMO.
You think we can get an animation like the original for manually consolidating or atleast a amount based delay? I don't like how pressing 1 button and BOOM all ammo restored. I like some difficulty as i can sit down in a corner and reload for awhile.
dont know if you care for suggestions or not but it would be neat if there were physical magazines in your inventory so you only could reload a set number of times. i imagine something to loot or craft . regardless its an amazing mod!

btw do you know of a mod that remembers ammo count when switching weapons? or does this automatically take care of it?
