History

The Wildey Survivor was designed by Wildey J. Moore in 1973, and entered full-scale production in 1980. It was the most powerful autoloading handgun in the world when it was introduced, possessing about 25% more muzzle energy than its closest rival, the Desert Eagle .50 AE. It was also the first commercially successful gas-operated handgun, entering production 2 years before the Desert Eagle.

The Wildey is famous for its use as Charles Bronson's sidearm in the 1985 film Death Wish 3. The screen-used firearm was Bronson's personal gun.

The Wildey Survivor is still in production. Manufacture of the gun has changed hands several times over the years, and the Wildey is currently being produced in limited numbers by USA Firearms Corporation.

The Wildey utilizes a unique short-stroke, gas-operated, locked breech system. The slide serves as the bolt carrier for a three-lug rotating bolt that locks into the top-rear of the receiver encompassing the barrel. Six holes a few inches in front of the chamber vent high-pressure gas into a collared piston, which forces the slide rearwards, camming the bolt open as an angled track on the slide interfaces with one of the bolt's locking lugs. The inertia from the fired casing is then able to open the bolt, the chamber pressure having dropped to a safe level. A ring on the gas piston is able to block off the vent holes, allowing it to be rotated to six different positions to control the volume of gas vented into the collar for each hole. This allows for fine-tuning of the gas system for different cartridge power levels.

The Wildey has been chambered for a number of very powerful cartridges since its inception. Currently, it is available in the proprietary .475 Wildey Magnum, .45 Winchester Magnum, and .44 AMP (AutoMag Pistol). In the past, it was available in more obscure calibers such as 9mm Winchester Magnum, and several different proprietary cartridges based on the .475 casing.

Its most popular chambering, .475 Wildey Magnum, is an incredibly powerful wildcat handgun cartridge. It is made by shortening the case of a .284 Winchester cartridge, a high-powered rifle cartridge similar in power to .308. The cartridge is not produced commercially and must be handloaded. A typical load will propel a 250 grain (16 gram) bullet to 1,850 ft/s (560 m/s) and develop over 1900 ft-lbs (2500 joules) of kinetic energy.

General Info

I put together an optional Charles Bronson face preset file if you want to go around Freeside blasting thugs Death Wish style. The instructions on how to use it are in the file.

I made the models and textures for this gun several years ago and put it in Fallout 4, and since then I've lost the original copies of the textures, so I had to recycle the ones I used in Fallout 4, which have some strange compression artifacts. This causes the gun to have pixellations on the specular map that I can't fix. Somehow it still manages to look better in this game than in Fallout 4, so much for Todd's superior lighting system.

As always, I highly recommend using an FOV of 90 degrees. I also strongly recommend using Hitman's Anniversary Animation Pack.

Features

  • Custom mesh
  • Custom 4K textures
  • Custom sounds
  • Custom ammo type: .475 Wildey Magnum, with 4 different loadings
  • Leveled list integration

Stats

The gun is balanced to be one of the most powerful handguns in the game, only surpassed by the hunting revolver and ranger sequoia. However, it has a higher magazine capacity and fire rate than those guns, giving it a higher DPS. It also gives a large bonus to critical chance and critical damage.

  • Base damage: 56
  • Base DPS: 131
  • Base critical multiplier: 3x
  • Base critical chance multiplier: 2x
  • Magazine capacity: 7
  • Base spread: 0.25
  • Base weight: 4 lbs
  • Base value: 5200 caps

Location

The gun and its mods are sold by the Gunrunners, Cliff Briscoe, and Mick of Mick and Ralph's. There is also one in a locked briefcase at the Mojave Express office in Primm along with a set of Pearl Grips. The .475 Wildey Magnum ammo is very rare and can be bought in small quantities from the aforementioned vendors. However, it can also be handloaded at reloading benches.
