Lets see who finds fuel cell controller first and gets the car running. Publish the place here if you found one.
No peeking with FNVEdit and if you want to cheat you can get the Fuel Cell Controller with console command: player.additem HighwaymanFC
Or you can add new drivable Highwayman to the game with command: player.placeatme TFDCHighwayman
First one found by whothefcaresanyways1234(Solid name). This one is situated in third floor of Repconn HQ Top Floor. My idea behind this is that similar fuel controllers used in cars would have been used in robots and manufactured by Repconn. Little addition to lore and much more lore friendly than Bethesdas: "There are no drivable cars left. Published after FO2"
Second was found by RockJB. This is located at Repconn Test Site Rocket Lab Basement in a room where you can see the launch chamber. You will get there during the Come Fly With Me quest line.
I have made the car on purpose really fast. I like it being so quick that going full speed everywhere is not an option.
If you want to change it more to your liking there is a config file in config\thefrontier\tfdcTFDCHighwayman.ini There carspeed, power and boostpower define the speed and acceleration of the car.
after ive repaired it and driven it a ton i cant heal/repair it cus i dont have the Repair thermic lance, i cant spawn it in for some reason even tho i have the ID "player.additem XX69F865 1" and i really dont want to play the frontier mod just to get one....
Can you make it standalone just so we don't have to download 10 GBs of content we may not want to tackle just to be able to drive this? I don't plan on playing The Frontier, but at the same time i want the vehicle, and downloading 10+ GBs for that is a waste of considerable space for my drive. Just use the minimum amount of files needed to make this work.
Would also love to have it use energy cells as fuel instead of the inaccurate gasoline we got from another mod.
This has been a topic for some time. The devs don't seem to make a stand alone vehicle mod for just NV without the Frontier attached. It does exist though, but you can't get it here and likely need to talk to other people to find it. But it is literally just the driving parts of Frontier without Frontier tagged in.
Guys can we FIND A WAY TO USE THIS MOD WITHOUT THE CRAPPY DLC-SIZED MOD. NOT EVERYONE WANTS TO HAVE THE FRONTIER LINGERING IN THE CORNERS OF THEIR NEW VEGAS MODLIST. PLZZ
There's really no way for that to happen unless someone wants to make their own independent car mod from the ground up. Xilandro, the guy who made the cars in the Frontier work, has expressly stated that he doesn't want and will not make a Frontierless version of it.
Also, if OP is reading this, since this mod still needs ''The Frontier.esm'', just rename ''Frontier Cars.esp'' into ''The Frontier.esm'' so the highwayman mod recognizes it as a base and doesnt crash the game
Replying to what Moonian948 said: What a childish mindset tbh. Instead of helping the community be satisfied with an otherwise must-have mod, he forcefully makes us waste 10 GBs of space just to be able to drive the cool Fallout 2 vehicle.
Either way, reading the other replies we already have a way to do it, very thankfully. Still a dick move from Xilandro for stating that.
Total chad. Thank you for sharing it. I read more about this and apparently it boils down to The Frontier (or at the very least, Xilandro) being egotistic mod authors.
Now i wish it had fuel limit requiring us to search for energy cells instead of gasoline which goes against Fallout entirely,
He said that he canned it because he was getting bullied by people or something, you know, people who download mods can be quite entitled sometimes... But still, I share the pain that we won't get a proper rendition of the standalone car system unless idk, money???
