Thanks for the mod. Works fine when using stealth field too (no more bald stealth).

I created a new character using this mod, and learned that if you create a character and choose a Vanilla hairstyle just to get the character creation finished so you can go out into the world, get the new hair, then start shooting things, you're going to have a problem.

First I couldn't understand the difference in the Description between Hair and Wig. it just got jumbled in my head (dyslexia). "Hair" does, indeed, mean you can wear a hat over your neat modded hair.
"Wig" gives you the same cool modded hair, but you cannot wear any hats.

I nearly did not get this mod because I thought the hats you could wear were part of the hairstyles (I saw a mod that did that. Gave some neat hair styles with a hat as part of the hair style), and the pictures did not show the Old Cowboy Hat, or Boone's Beret that I like wearing.
Yeah, no, this mod gives you neat Wigs. And the same Hair styles to put any hat on top of those Hairs.

BUT, what I learned is that the Hair you pull out of the crate behind Poseidon Gas station clips through the Reflectron chosen hair in the Reflectron and it looks bad.

If you grab a Wig, the Vanilla Reflectron hair disappears. But if you want the Hair it clips and looks very bad.

SOLUTION, in your character creation phase with Doc Mitchell, pick your Preset, or create your own face, then choose SHAVED under hairstyles.
Then any of the Hair choices you make won't clip, and you can wear a hat.

Long-winded, yes. But I try to give my experience in case others have a very similar one.

So, SHORT Answer; In Character Creation give yourself the SHAVED head. Leave Doc's place, grab a Hair you want, and it won't clip through Vanilla hair and look nasty.
Then wear any hat you want. If you want.

Great mod. I enjoy it. Thumbs up. 👍👍

A simpler explanation. This mod exists for modded hairstles, whihc lack an hairline, meaning whenever you use modded hair and equipp a hat that "hides" your hair, you'll be bald.

There's also hats who don't hide your hair, but simply sit on top of your modded hair, causing infinite clipping.
For these hats there's a wig, that hides your hair and works with these types of hat.

The problem of FNV is that you have 2 different types of hats existing in the game, each of the requiring a special wig type.

Vanilla hairstyles do not have the balding problem, as they do have a hairline. So the mod is not really meant for them, as they'll work regardless of the wigs. of course the vanilla hairs aren't pretty, but they are also not like modded hairs which can be a little immersion breaking.

A new version with scripted handling of wigs is in the works tho.

      Thank you. 😊

I'm not very good at explaining things.
And I'm not a modder. I'm one of those idiots who doesn't understand how things work.
      For that I apologize.

I find mods that are easy to use and do not require multiple mods in order for one mod to work (e.g. 6 other beautification mods in order for 1 hair mod to work).
That is one of the reasons why I chose your mod. Ease of use.
AND it has great hair styles. 😎

So, thank you, again, for making this mod.
And I apologize, again, for being inept. ✌

Hello, very nice mod that helped quite a lot and gave me the opportunity to put longer types of hair rather than keeping it short enough to be covered by hats for the sake of role play.
Now that I am starting a TTW playthrough, I was wondering how can I get the items in DC (through give item console command)? Or, if it's possible, make a patch for TTW, that'll be very great!
Once again, thank you for the awesome mod!

I don't have TTW, and therefore do not make mods for that. you can try to make a patch yourself if you know how, or try out the item browser mod, which requires script extender

Item Browser - To get items with an MCM menu. Follow the mega link in the description and look in the folder "others".

Thank you for that mod suggestion. It ensures we can get these items while playing TTW (since the box does not appear - at least in my on-going playthrough - not sure about a new game in TTW)

I highly suggest anyone else playing TTW that wants their modded hair not to look weird with a hat use the item browser mod if playing TTW.

So how does this work with Mannequin Race (and Type 4)? My problem is those "hair" clip through any headgear that don't cover your character's head and even goes blank when under any stealth field.

you equip this to hide your hair. it doesnt care which raace or body you have. it works on all males and emales, you just decide which wig to equip.

Hey great mod! Not sure how to change the color of custom hair wigs though.. I use one of the presets (ginger), so it would be great to know which file to edit and the ID of the shade used, or perhaps it is done in some other way. Thanks in advance for your help!

it's done through textures, so you need ot either use GIMP or pHotoshop and edit the extra wig, for custom colors.

Would love to see some ponytails/buns with this, even just the vanilla ponytail. I always wanted Cass to be able to have her ponytail with her hat on without it being squished flat. Wonderful work. <3

ponytails do not fit undder hats, that's why the devs removed them from the hat on version.

all the hats would need to be modified for such thing to happen

Couldn't someone theoretically script these to equip when wearing a certain hat with a certain hairstyle? So when you wear x hat with x hairstyle you'd equip x hair armor

technically yes, there are however a few problems.

      1. i can't do scripts
      2. What about hair colors? they are recognized ingame by hexadecimal values, and not by name, so the possibilities are pretty much infinte, and you'll be stuck with only one standard wig.
      3. Hairmods, and hat mods would all need to be made compatible with the scripted mod, or it''ll onl work with vanilla assets.

for these reasons a standard "works with all" version was a betteroption in my opinion.

Fallout2am was working on a similar system of equippable hairparts, however i haven't heard anythign of it again.

It would be more practical to just make a scripted version for each wig type, and let the user choose which one best matches their character. If you're interested in making something like this, here are the scripts I made for personal use that you're free to use. You'll need to apply them to each armor/hat/helmet you want to use the wigs with. (My character has the Sucker Punch hairstyle from Megaton Hairs - Mojave Edition in cyan, so I went with the Medium Custom style, you'd need to replace zzjayWigMed1C and zzjayWigMedC with the Editor IDs of the wigs appropriate for your character.)
For Advanced Radiation Suit, Environment Suit, and Radiation Suit:

      ScriptName KrisZzjayHairFixWigScript

      Begin OnEquip Player
          Player.AddItem zzjayWigMed1C 1 1
          Player.EquipItem zzjayWigMed1C 1 1
      End

      Begin OnUnequip Player
          Player.UnequipItem zzjayWigMed1C 0 1
          Player.RemoveItem zzjayWigMed1C 1 1
      End

      For hats and helmets:

      ScriptName KrisZzjayHairFixScript

      Begin OnEquip Player
          Player.AddItem zzjayWigMedC 1 1
          Player.EquipItem zzjayWigMedC 1 1
      End

      Begin OnUnequip Player
          Player.UnequipItem zzjayWigMedC 0 1
          Player.RemoveItem zzjayWigMedC 1 1
      End

This sounds interesting, however i doubt it works for modded headgear.

And there's the problem of having only one hair color and model, while interesting, it should be an alternative mod, imo where users can pick which wig and color and model to install, and have it be a masterfile, so users can patch in whatever hat they desire.

It's actually a great idea, that could also let expereinced users make their own wig, to replace the preset of the wig. And if done through a script i think i should be able to make it colorable, but im not sure i'll mess around with it.
      thanks a lot. :)

Also I'm a bit confused. The first script is for gear that doesnt show head, right?
but it looks the same as the second script, also right?
Whats the purpose of the scripts being separate entities?

Lastly, do you think it'd be possible to add an if function according to player sex?

      @CrystalSharrd
Hi - could you perhaps walk me through the process of doing this myself? i don't exactly understand what you proposed here. I'd like to replace one of the wigs/hairs with the hair titled "Confetti" from Megaton Hairs.

      thanks

WHat he's saying has nothing to do with what you want to do.

You can try replacing the nif, of the wig with the hair, then copy the shader, and color the textures accordingly, but the hair would just clip through all the hats.

Can someone explain how is this mod exactly supposed to work? I tried with https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/70036?tab=files&file_id=1000067447&nmm=1 and it didn't do anything, unless it only works with some custom hats or mods that only give different hair to the player and only the player.
