From the author of Less Empty Primm and some casino overhauls, a very humble mod which tries to add some custom assets to Nellis in hopes of giving it more personality and character. New robots, photos, signs, posters and structures. WIP.

LESS EMPTY NELLIS


PROLOGUE:
I might be in the minority here but I absolutely loved the Boomer faction on my first playthrough. I loved the classic aviator aesthetic and seeing the majestic B-29 bomb the Legion on my maiden playthrough is one of my gaming life's standout moments.

But playing FNV again I couldn't help but feel underwhelmed with Nellis itself. 

It was empty and not in a good way.

Military bases are large and spacious but here it felt a little too sparse. It didn't feel like an airbase or artillery range either. The runways had no lights, markers, PAPIs or NAV systems or equipment installed on-sight. No floodlights, no radar, no fire fighting equipment.

Like a lot of NV, it felt barren and unfinished.

This is a very small mod which tries to add some unique flavor into Nellis and to help realize it's full potential.


FEATURES

MORE UNIQUE ROBOTS
The mod adds several new unique Boomer style robots to Nellis. Vanilla Nellis mostly has 2 generic Mister Gutsies patrolling inside it's fences. I felt that given it's huge space there should have been more.

Eyebots are fairly common in airforce bases in the Fallout Lore along with several other combat bots. The new bots are repurposed combat bots and almost each has been given a unique Boomer inspired design.

As for the pathetic security at the tail end of the base, 2 army sentry bots are now patrolling the rear of the base which was honestly pretty damn unguarded.

LORE FRIENDLY UNIQUE PHOTOS, POSTERS AND SIGNS
The mod adds a new portrait photo of Pearl in her younger years. She was one of the original Boomers and I plan to add some more items to show their history and heritage. Another portrait of a notable Boomer was added. 

The Boomer Museum now has a unique sign. The museum will be further expanded in future versions with expanded exhibits and lore.

The mod also tries to add some small QOL improvements by adding signs to the various buildings and barracks. I hated how all the small living quarters didn't have any signs or any way to tell which was which outside of the bio-diesel plant. The only way to tell was either memorizing the layout or hovering the crosshair over the door to see the interior's name.

The medical facility and school now have clear signs and markers to tell which is which. More distinct signs for most structures is planned.

As for added eye candy, the mod adds a couple of new posters to various locations. The men's quarters will have more aviation themed vintage pin ups while the female barracks will have have some female aviation themed ones. All lore friendly.

Loyal's house has some paintings which are references to a certain plane he mentions and loves. Once again, all lore friendly.

NEW STRUCTURES, FIXTURES AND EQUIPMENT
Large windmills made out of recycled aircraft parts like wings and jet turbines now exist near the Nellis solar array. These are an alternate energy source for the the Boomers and also provide much needed flavor and are fully animated with sound FX. 

New custom made aviation style floodlights now surround the airbase with proper working LODs. They really add to the airbase vibe and I can't believe they weren't in the vanilla game.  No doubt not made and added due to time constraints.

FNVLODGEN IS REQUIRED IF YOU WANT THE FLOODLIGHT AND WINDMILL LODS TO SHOW UP!

The game won’t crash without it but it will seriously look a little more barren without these structures in the distance.


FUTURE PLANS:

At the moment, it doesn't overhaul Nellis fully and I would recommend you pair it with another Nellis overhaul for the time being. I can't guarantee future versions will be compatible as I plan to overhaul Nellis fully in the future.

The mod is fairly WIP and I personally mod slowly. I work with a personal checkpoint system and opt for smaller rapid fire updates over one large one. For reference, Less Empty Primm started as a mod which simply added a fence around the roller coaster and Lux Aeterna UL overhaul started as a simple texture mod which only changed the 8 basic tranquility lane paintings.

Adding anything large and unique to Nellis is difficult because whatever is added desperately needs LODs given that it's a huge area.

More pre-war structures are definitely planned as are a lot of things I won't mention here.
