Beautiful work! The room is cosy and dimly lit, just like it should be. That floating lamp on the right, it belongs to ILO. There's a quick fix - simply remove it with the console command disable and that's it. There will be a subtle leftover light source, but at least in my game it's barely noticeable and looks like a reflection from the nearby wall lamps anyway. Other than that, everything is just fine. I just wish that all the little objects were static, so that they stay fixed, instead of going out of place if you touch them.
I don't know if anyone else is having this issue, or might know what's causing it, but when I enter the motel room there's other objects there intersecting with the mods objects. I thought I might have another mod that was conflicting but for the life of me, I can't find out what's causing it. Anyone know what's causing this?
EDIT: I used disable through the console but I'm still curious as to what was causing this.
Thanks for the praise! :> After the research I did I guess some game saves will be prone to glitch one object or another no matter what :/ I added fridge and safe since they are the most common ones but to make sure no objects glitch ever I'd have to remake the entire thing :( My best advice is to use this mod for new saves or use "disable" command on objects that aren't showing up correctly though it will remove them
Just grabbed this because I absolutely hate the fact that the default Novac motel room is completely useless except as a dump room for all that stuff you no longer want to carry, but can't afford to sell.
Seriously, just the cooking area makes this worth everything to me. I play a lot of characters that have high survival and heal by eating when possible. Not being able to cook in the same space that contains all of my ingredients annoys the heck out of me. I'm hoping there's a reloading bench and workbench in there somewhere, because then this just became one of the most useful player homes in the base game. Even if one of those two is missing, that's still good. As long as I can either load more ammo or recycle my energy weapon batteries, I can deal with the loss of the other.
Haven't even fired the game up yet, but I can tell this is going to be good.
So, now that I've explored it, I have to admit, I like it.
While there's no reloading bench, I can live with that, because I've got a workbench there, and that means I can make all sorts of useful things. Combined with being able to cook my food, that's made this little motel room a useful base of operations. I also appreciate the clutter placed around the area, both in the form of stuff we can pick up and in the form of statics. I'm one of those players who picks up everything, because I don't like walking through the door and having "physics explosions" where all of the carefully placed clutter suddenly makes it look like a tornado ripped through my room. Unfortunately, in the base player homes, if you pick up all of the clutter, the place looks barren and boring, but if you leave all of the clutter or try to redecorate, you're just asking to have a mess.
Having static clutter allows me to pick up all the loose stuff and store it, and still have items making the place look lived in.
This took a completely useless player 'home' and made it rather useful. I can recharge energy cells, cook up some food, get some rest, and relieve the burden of way-too-much-stuff into a variety of containers, then head back out into the wastes in a place that's often traveled through. Plus, right across the street, so to speak, is a store.
This must be the same thing that happens to the fridge, try to start a new save and see if it fixes, unfortunately this is a glitch on the engine's part and not something I can fix :( You also try using "disable" cheat code to get rid off the lamp, hope it helps!
It's probably already answered, but just want to make sure: Will the mod have any problems with ILO? Since I use the latter mod, I'm curious if there any incompatibilities between your Novac overhaul mod and Interior Lighting Overhaul
Hey, sorry for such late reply! Meanwhile, I tested it with ILO and didn't notice any conflict, the only thing is that with the lighting I set up in the room ILO's lights don't add much.
This is great! You added even more containers (for us packrats) and all my stuff was still there in the original containers! Well done. I like all the added nickknacks. My favorite thing is the better lighting! At least during the day :-) And yay a workbench! Seems strange that one wasn't there already. Nice job. Thanks! Edit, just noticed that the fridge is merged with the kitchenette in my game. I can't access cooking station. I don't see any conflicts (and I don't have any other mods that change the room). It's just a single esp, so I don't see how Vortex screwed that up lol. I reinstalled just in case, but still the same. I added a picture of it. No biggy as I eat out most of the time anyway. :-) Looks perfect in the GECK, don't know what's causing it :-(
Thank you so much for such a detailed feedback, I am so glad you like what I did to the room! :D Very sorry about the fridge, I am looking into it. Could you see if the fridge is in the right position if you start a new game? I checked in GECK and in-game but neither me or my friend get this bug.. The fridge does get bugged after I uninstall the mod, it get's fixed with starting a new game though (none of this makes sense huh). I'll update the file once I figure out what's up with it :(
Thank you for your kind response! I went back to an earlier save and reinstalled BUT still the same! Very weird. I'll let you know if I have any luck with a new game. It's like the fridge just wants to stay in its original place - just in my game?! I'm tracking in case you have any idea what it could be, but otherwise I'm enjoying the mod. Maybe I'll try swapping the kitchenette with the fridge?! Not sure how to do such things yet, but have been wanting to learn me some GECK. If you have some spare time, and want to switch them for me. Just me! :-) I'll buy you a beer. Or if you can teach me ha. I'll put you on my Christmas list if you remove the dang bathroom door while you're at it lol. Thank you again! Edit, well your mod inspired me to learn a few things. I still need to clean it up, but I swapped the fridge with the kitchenette! And deleted the door lol. Uploading picture. Thanks for the fun! And the mod :-)
Unfortunately, that is a known game behavior. Some containers and activators position seems to get saved in the save file the first time you enter the cell. (In this case, the fridge position when you first enter the Novac Room). There is no known method of resetting the position of the affected objects. The workaround is to use console commands such as SetPos and SetAngle or to use the G.E.C.K. like you did.
Thanks rknowj! Didn't know that tanmau. Weird tho that the footlocker at the foot of the bed was able to be moved to under the window by this mod in my game. I guess one could delete containers in the geck and recreate them in the new position, but I don't think the contents of said container would be retained as this mod intended either. Well, all's well that ends well I guess. I do like how the room looks with this mod!
Hey, not sure how relevant this issue is but I added a new version of the file, same mod but I replaced the buggy containers with the new ones. Hope this helps!
Nice to have the optional file. At least one other had a stubborn fridge based on an image uploaded by themaddeningjester. I'm not the only one?! lol. Thanks krimsons!

Second, I'm using the Fridge + safe fix version of the mod and for some reason I have 2 bathroom doors. Is this a known issue?
