About this mod

Adds Coffee Grounds to the game so that you can finally brew an authentic cuppa joe. No more of that mesquite and tobacco swill from Zion, and now compatible with PTWB's Water Overhaul!

Permissions and credits
April 14, 2024: New in 2.0!
  • Finally actually literally did add coffee to lists. When I made this mod, I either didn't actually understand what formlists were, or I didn't do it properly. But now, coffee and coffee grounds should appear in food and drink related lists for vendors and looting, and will respawn in vendors' inventories at the regular time.
  • Added an exchange recipe for coffee to the Sierra Madre vending machines in Dead Money.
  • Added extra versions of the mod that are compatible with Water Overhaul by PushTheWinButton, adding extra recipes that use unclean water.

Coffee snobs of the Mojave rejoice! For too long we've been forced to endure the indignity—the sheer insult—of asking for a cup of coffee from vendors and severely burned war criminals and receive not an authentic cup of good old fashioned joe, but to receive nothing. Or, worse than nothing, they give us what appears to be an entirely solid mixture of honey mesquite pods and tobacco leaves lightly roasted and placed into a coffee mug! What kind of sick joke is this?

Well, no one has to pretend to laugh at this joke anymore. I've made this mod to bring real coffee to the wasteland, because I like coffee and like drinking coffee in both real life and in video games.

Three versions of this mod are available. You only need to download one version.

"Light Roast"
  • Adds Coffee (Weight 0.2, Value 5) as a consumable item with the following effects:
~ +5 Hit Points.
~ +1 Intelligence for 2 minutes.
~ +1 Perception for 2 minutes.
~ -1 Agility for 2 minutes.
~ -50 Sleep (Hardcore Only)
~ +10 Dehydration (Hardcore Only)
  • Adds Coffee Grounds as a miscellaneous item to the world, loot lists, and vendors (Weight 0.2, Value 5).
  • Adds a recipe for Coffee that requires 1 Kettle, 1 Mug, Coffee Grounds, and Purified Water.
  • Changes the vanilla "Black Coffee" item to "Mojave Mesquite Tea."
  • Increases the weight of Mojave Mesquite Tea to 0.2 from 0.02.
  • Changes the recipe for Mojave Mesquite Tea to require 1 Purified Water in addition to its usual ingredients.
  • Disables the random mug-breaking script in-game so that brewing Coffee or Tea will always return the player's mug and kettle.
  • Adds Coffee Grounds to generic food lists so that they may show up as loot, etc.
  • Adds Coffee Grounds to the worldspace (check around kitchens and coffee brewing machines).
  • Adds Coffee Grounds, Coffee and Mojave Mesquite Tea to various vendors' inventories.

"Medium Roast"
  • - Same as Light Roast, except:
~ Removes the +5 HP effect from Coffee.
~ Removes the +5 HP effect from Mojave Mesquite Tea.

"Dark Roast"
  • Same as Light Roast, except:
~ Removes all non-Hardcore effects from Coffee.
~ Removes all non-Hardcore effects from Mojave Mesquite Tea.

Conflicts
  • Potentially conflicts with anything that edits food-related formlists. I'm sorry, I can't figure out scripting for the life of me, and since I originally made this just for personal use, the formlists were edited directly. I'm dumb of ass.
  • Potentially conflicts with anything that edits the world space or clutter arrangements wherever Coffee Grounds are placed.

Also Recommended:
  • Conor's Coffee Mug Replacer or Better Coffee Mug
  • Water Overhaul if you're interested in the optional patches
  • B42 Inject - Coffee, which adds a custom first-person animation for drinking coffee (or tea) and is compatible right out of the box. If you're also using Animated Ingestibles, then to avoid the "doubled animation" bug, you will need to download the compatibility patch and add the following to the scriptrunner's INI file:
    NVDLC02BlackCoffeeEDID=1
    CBCCoffeeEDID=1
    CBCCoffeeUncleanEDID=1
