rknowj - If you use FCO, its because FCO change the eye mesh UV maps to use two eyes instead of one like the base game. If you load my mod after FCO it should overwrite those meshes and any characters using the base game eye textures (green, blue, brown, dark brown, default, raider, ghoul).
These are great, but more than "real" they start looking more like cartoon-ish eyes. There's no eyelash shadow on the eye it self and it needs to be a little bit smoother. Other than that, great mod!
Feel free to improve on this mod if you'd like, I can send you any of the files. I don't think eyelashes would make much of a shadow, more eyelid and eyes being sunk into the skull that does it. Also the game looks pretty cartoony by itself and I felt the eyes fit well while looking better than original. I liked that the lack of shadow allowed the eyes to pop out a bit in dark environments. They still get shaded plenty being 3D and with the normal map.
Hey, so I just swapped out a different eye mod for these, and they look great! They feel like a good middle ground between vanilla eyes and one of the super HD eye mods out there, and the ghoul eyes are perfect in combination with Ghoulified 2.0. And they work with NV Redesigned 2 Revised as well, so a good combination of highly improved vanilla faces and these eye textures!
Mike92160 - Hey, if you're talking about "Dragbody NPCs.esp" the mod I made, it won't conflict with that as those NPCs all have their own eye textures - that's actually what I based this mod off of. If you're talking dragbody npcs from his mods in general, it would also be fine as this just replaces the vanilla game eyes and new vegas redesigned stuff.
Just has a quick question in regards to installation. Is the mod alright to be installed Via Vortex? I see it gives the option for mod management download though so do many mods yet in the description they'll say to download manually. I just want to make sure I go about this correctly.
@mrwhale810 - Honestly it'd be really hard to mess up using this mod, it only contains textures (and the corresponding meshes) for the game's eyes.. as long as another mod isn't overwriting it's contents it will show the eye textures properly. There is no .esp or anything like that.. I'd recommend using Mod Organizer 2 to make it even easier to use. Learning how to use Mod Organizer 2 only takes a little bit of time but once you get the hang of it, it makes using mods for this game so much easier.
You can use Vortex however, it really doesn't matter.. this mod is as simple as they get.
This is how realistic eyes should look in my opinion. Iris' should give off a concave effect when light hits them I think. Really cool. I was wondering though, does this include Ghouls eyes too?
Great textures in general, though I would suggest adding some baked in shadows to textures, about 70% opacity strikes a good balance between vanilla "tired" look and that creepy/goofy look some people complained about. https://i.imgur.com/7lelR8S.png
4rakhor - I really didn't like the shadows at all but I'll give this a try, thanks for the suggestion. I preferred the "whites" of the eyes popping out more, felt more realistic to me, though in your comparison screenshot it does look nice. The problem with this solution is that not all the eyes are the same size, because of the horrible eye morphing being applied by the FaceGen stuff, at least if you use New Vegas Redesigned 3, which I do.. it improves the faces of most of the NPCs a ton, but one issue is the eyes on some characters (usually asian) become small, they'll have tiny irises so it throws off the whole texture and the baked-in shadow would be much further down on the eye texture causing it to look even more messed up.
I've been searching for a way to replace the eye meshes entirely and override the EGM eye morphs, but the only solid solution I've come up with would be to hand edit every single NPC in the game and make sure their eyes are placed/look right.
Perhaps I'll just make an Optional version of this mod with the shadows applied.
I like what yours mod doing but I do not like the way it done. I mean, I prefer more looks of Cataract Eyes becouse they have felling of alive person. In case of this mod - I see better textures, no strange mirrow glow... but overall faces looks dump, like everybody are imbeciles :) I wish you coop oneday and take the best from each other findings
ASHZAZA - Huh what you said about this mod is how I feel about how the textures make character's look with the vanilla eyes, which is what Cataract Eyes are essentially. The faces already look bad on their own in this game. My eye textures are quite a bit more vibrant and detailed while still fitting in with the game's dull colors, they look more alive to me, but hey whatever ya prefer.
To illustrate my point, the vanilla eyes, especially in this interior space/lighting, make the character look like he's tired/on drugs or something. Granted I'm using a different eye mesh in the picture with my updated textures but all that would change is the position of the iris a bit.
