Background:
PineappleSurprise's Plasma Boomstick is an excellent weapon mod. It looks unique, has custom firing sounds, and fits in well with the aesthetics of Fallout: New Vegas. Unfortunately, the weapon has a rather nasty little visual bug in the form of the weapon's microfusion shell, which can be seen clipping through the gun's stock when viewed in third person. This isn't the fault of the mod author, as all vanilla pump-action shotguns use the same animation "trick," where the shell which is loaded into the firearm is actually held inside of the gun stock when not in use. The problem is that the microfusion cell ammo casing used by the Plasma Boomstick is much larger than a shotgun shell, so it sticks out awkwardly in the stock.

The Fix (for those curious how it works):
This mod addresses the issue above by replacing the standard shell casing node with one that keeps the shell inside the gun instead. Since the Plasma Boomstick is near identical to the Holorifle (which does not suffer from the same visual bug), I simply used the mesh node from that weapon as a foundation, and replaced the old Boomstick node with a new and improved one. The result is no more microfusion cell clipping through the gun stock. Third-person players rejoice.

For Viva New Vegas guide users:
The Plasma Boomstick is used in the Content module, where is has been renamed to the Plasma Shotgun. This mod works just as well whether you're using the standalone mod or the rebalanced version found in the Lore Friendly Weapons Pack. I've also patched the mesh via Sniff to support hitman's Iron Sight Recoil Animation (the fix works fine even if you don't use hitman's mod). As such, make sure to load this mod after both the Lore Friendly Weapons Pack and the accompanying Iron Sights Recoil Animations patch.
