I am shocked that it took almost a decade for mods like this to start coming out. Not saying I can do it better (I certainly can't) but one would think that things like this and something to mitigate this game's extreme Z-fighting would've been priorities for the community. Maybe something like this https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/35720 combined with fixing the placement of some LOD objects? idk
Anyway, thank you SO much. One more step towards making ENB presets worth using for this game. I just wish using ENB's post-processing didn't always make the game look worse, IMO, by making us disable real anti-aliasing (there is no ENB I'm aware of that has sufficient AA). But unfortunately it seems that can't be overcome due to engine limitations.
I am shocked how you people are able to notice the difference. I had to really concentrate and look really really hard to find any on these pictures of Sunny Smiles. Only after I opened them in Photoshop and turned up the brightness, then I was able to notice her hair on the back is slightly darker on one picture compared to the other.
Much simpler/straightforward solution would be just to turn off ENB's AO because it hardly helps this game look any better. Or you can try using AO from New Vegas Reloaded instead.
Huh. I didn't know New Vegas Reloaded had its own AA. I just assumed it didn't have it since unlike ENB, it can be used with the game's native AA enabled.
Or are you talking about using Reloaded for graphics and ENB for memory management only? I'd use Reloaded for graphics exclusively if it had more presets.
Since the subject was "how to fix hair with ENB's Ambient Occlusion", I was merely suggesting to use Ambient Occlusion from the New Vegas Reloaded (because it doesn't have that problem) if that wasn't clear. But obviously NVR's other features can be used too.
If you don't know, New Vegas Reloaded and ENB can work at the same time. The only trick is to turn off some of their conflicting options:
- set "ShaderModel3=0" in NewVegasReloaded.ini (fixes some of ENB's postprocessing) - set "DepthOfField=0" in NewVegasReloaded.ini (fixes transparent PipBoy, etc.) - set "bUseWaterRefractions=1" and "bUseWaterDepth=0" in FalloutPrefs.ini (fixes NVR's water glitches) - set "EnableUnsafeMemoryHacks=false" in enblocal.ini (fixes NVR's corrupted fonts) maybe there was something else (I don't quite remember atm)
Ya. I edited my post about the same time you responded. It's all good. Not using ENB right (trying out NVR beta 3.0) but I will definitely try this out when I do.

The only thing I do with custom hair is to change numbers, and the Blend Modes in NiAlphaProperty, but that doesn't completely fix the problem.
