Hey so unfortunately, deleting the other meshes and textures and leaving only the "deathclaw_infant.nif" & "deathclaw_baby_nif" files seems to break the mod, for one it crashes my game on load presumably because I quicksaved right next to a dead deathclaw, and after reloading to a previous save that's from a distance, the deathclaws only appear as giant Exclamation Signs. It's a great mod and this used to work in the past but idk if anything changed to cause this.
For the record,I'm basing this entirely off that short clip from Mutant Mods video where he deletes every other file except for those two. If I'm supposed to leave certain files alone or delete other ones, he did not make that clear.
Might be an bit late, but keep any mesh that has 'skeleton' in it's name too. (so skeleton.nif, skeleton_deathclaw.nif and so on) DON'T remove the NVSE folder. In textures keep at least the 'deathclaw_infant.dds' or the infants will lack textures (if you use another retexture mod you can delete the other textures, or let the retexture mod override them if you have the space, IF you don't use an retexture mod keep the other textures as they are good quality)
If you delete the 'skeleton' meshes the NVSE script will fail to find the required meshes and cause the 'missing mesh-red Exclamation Signs' you've encountered and if you lack the texture folder the infant lacks textures.
That clip from MM isn't very informative and lacks half the actual info to work tbh.
Anyone know how to only install the baby models? I managed to do it but I am afraid that I did something wrong, I noticed a missing creature icon so Maybe it is just a monster mod lite bug
Would it be too much to ask for a version of this that only affects the Baby/Young Deathclaws, but leaves the adults unchanged? Not that these models are bad or anything, but the vanilla Deathclaw design makes me feel a sense of terror that very few monsters in video-games manage to replicate, I absolutely love them. I just wish the Baby and Young variants looked a bit more distinct instead of basically just lazy downscales, which is a problem that this mod does a great job at addressing.
Thank you for the suggestion, but I couldn't achieve what I was looking for. I deleted all meshes and textures except for the baby and infant Deathclaws, but then they were left with black eyes which is inconsistent with the adults. I then deleted the textures as well and left only the models, but then the babies' textures completely glitched out on me and kept flickering to random purple and gray textures.
please make an alt file for just the baby and infant deathclaws, i mean no offence to you or your models, i'd like a more vanilla feel to my game but keep the model variation of the babies and infants.
If you're using an mod-manager, just hide the meshes so you only have the baby, infant and all skeletons. (if you want to also revert the skeletons you also need to edit the .txt file but I think thats not really necessary)
Really love the models, but am having an issue where the Young Deathclaws are using the Deathclaw mesh and the Babies are using the Young Deathclaw mesh. Your mods are the only ones I have installed that change any meshs and Menaces seems to work fine. Was wondering if you, or anyone else, has expereinced a similar issue and what the fix might be.
Install Improved Console (NVSE) if you haven't, then go up to the deathclaws with the mismatched meshes. Open up the console and click on each, and enter "GBO". It'll return the baseform of the targeted deathclaw. Come back and tell me the baseforms.
