This mod is almost perfect. Sadly, the HVT's of every faction will immediately be hostile against you when you sign in as a bounty hunter, even ones you are aligned with. Still, the bribery mechanic is something that should have been allowed in the vanilla game

This is exactly what I need for my bounty hunter playthrough. New vegas bounties is all well and good. But I wanted something a little more open ended I guess. Now I can get paid for taking down the troublemakers of the wasteland. Now if I could just find something similar for the gangs like jackles and fiends. And something for creatures to.

I greatly admire this mod for I find it suitable for a mercenary build and it makes traveling less lonely especially at low health, with solid project, it makes the mod twice as fun, along with wasteland defense (enclave edition for me) and TLD travelers. I look forward to seeing further updates down the road and see what else comes up in the future. keep working on this for it is a very promising idea that reminds me of "the dark brotherhood forever" from Skyrim, just without someone giving you a quest over and over rather one mentally writes the story as they play

Hey everyone, I just wanted to give an information update. I havent abandoned this mod, though I have got my small hands full on a couple mod ideas, I actually have an idea to, atleast improve the Hitmercenaries on Player. Its simple enough for me to do quick. Im also planning on removing the "HVT guards literally "guard" the dead HVT", because that has given much inconvenience to me as well. So that update will probably be out soon. I will keep the future MCM update for, well, the future, because I still havent tried to learn to do that, but I think we all agree that its about damn time I made an update xD
    Happy hunting everyone!

Update 2.0: I just remembered that big nasty thing that needs to be done. The update will be delayed but hopefully I learn to do it quick enough.

Whilst I understand this might be a bit of nitpick, I was wondering whether it'd be possible to have the option to "Disable Traveling Mercs" accessed from somewhere other than The Terminal; it's incredibly jarring and immersion-breaking to see it right there along with the Ticket Items.

Where would you suggest to have the option instead?

Could it be done from an .ini file or through a console command?

Console command is possible, but Im not sure if all users would prefer that to a terminal option. Im going to consider all options

I just found this mod. I don't find something like that immersion breaking but maybe you could have an MCM menu option? That way people can go regular or hardcore on the fly instead of needing separate files you could put the merc option there as well.

Thats a great idea. I was discouraged on trying to "fix" the Player mercenaries, I was trying something and it didnt help so I kinda lost hope. But if I can learn to make an MCM menu it would be great, Ill see about it. Thanks!

Could be a lot of reasons, even unrelated to the mod as neither testing nor other players have reported similar issues.

I like the idea of this mod greatly. However it makes my game pretty much unplayable.

The mercenaries respawn constantly. I'm using the Mobile Truck Base mod. Used it to travel to the 188 Trading Post. Left the truck. Fought the group of mercs that spawned. Went into the shack to enable the bounties. Left the shack. Fought another group of mercs that had spawned in the same place. Went into the MTB. Put some stuff away. Left the MTB. Fought 3rd group of Mercs. This also happens in other areas on fast travel/loading. I'm not sure if this is intended or just happens in my game for whatever reason, but it just ends up being really annoying.

Another issue I'm having is that the groups with the NCR HVTs are randomly turning hostile to me without provocation. Despite me never having taken a hostile action towards the NCR and I have very positive reputation with them. They also turn all other nearby vanilla NCR NPCs hostile. Which ofcourse completely ruins the game.

I've also walked over to Gun Runners to find the Gun Runner and NCR guards all trying to kill the Vendertron.

Sorry I was MIA because our government shut down the internet in the country to supress the riotings. The mercenaries issue makes sense as there are 4 travelling groups and 8 groups in total after you, and said 8 sometimes cause issues like that. I can limit their arrivals for next version. However the 2 other issues really baffle me as we never experienced those in testings, and neither has been anyone else reporting issues like that. Ill look again but I think you may have mod compatibilities or misinstalled mods. Gun runners, Vendortron and their factions are untouched by this mod. Only problems like that I encountered with Vendortron long before making this mod was that a mod added him to the robot faction so IWS spawned hostile sentry bots at him.

Im working on an update to fix 2 things, the NCR guards turning everyone hostile after they and the HVT respawn, with you having looted their corpses, and the mercenary spam coming after you. The lamest part is having to do everything 3 times since theres 3 versions. Next mod Ill use an ESM instead.

I'm really sorry to bother you again but this just happened to me: at the Grub n' Gulp Rest Stop I witnessed a mercenery squad fighting with three different HVTs with their bodyguards in rapid succession and they slaughter everybody there, including both Fitz and Lupe.
Mod-addedd NPCs killing vanilla named NPCs is unacceptable for me, especially cause Fitz was also involved in a quest, so for now I'll abstain from signing in as a bounty hunter and just use the bribery portion of this mod, which I found to be a very convenient and realistic implementation of a redemption system.
I'm not criticizing and I appreciate your hard work, I just wanted to inform you. Maybe you can relocate some encounter so they don't crowd too much in a location and don't risk to involve other NPCs in their fights? Or maybe I just had bad luck, I understand that when you add NPCs things like this can happen...
Thanks anyway, hope your exams went well!

Alot of NV civilians are inside main NCR faction, including the vendors of G&G. And theres not many alternative travel routes to choose from in the game that go through major locations but not into deathclaws. If the mercs see an NCR HVT (Or if Ranger HVTs see the disguised Legion HVTs) said civilians will join the fight. Not much I can really do, and excluding them from NCR faction in this or a new plugin will have compatibility issues (Unless no other mods effect them). Which quest do you mean by Fitz' quest? If its modded, you could open that mod in FNVEdit and remove Fitz and Lupe from NCRFactionNV. Sorry today was a really lame day and I didnt even touch NV, not much else I can think of right now.

In Poor Meat Never Makes Good Soup you can choose him as a meat supplier for Camp McCarran. It's an unmarked quest and there's another choice, so he's not that fundamental, guess I'm just a little fixated with vanilla content ;)
Anyway, I understand what you're saying, I figured it must be a complicated matter to find balance when adding content and NPC can have unmpredictible behavior sometimes. The oddest thing was that when I approached the area there was a fight ongoing between mercs and a HVT with his bodyguards, but a NCR HVT civilian (a woman with a fancy black dress) was already dead near the stalls of G&G; then, five seconds after mercs dispose of the second HVT, a third one approach with his group and another fight started. Since the scene became so crowded the fight lasted too long and Fitz & Lupe (plus some travellers added by The Living Desert) got inevitably involved and got slaughtered. I don't know, maybe I'll try to delete some HVT to thin the odds of such occurance or simply console-resurrect important NPC if they die.
Thanks anyway, I'll keep following the development of your mod, if I find something else relevant I'll tell you.
      Cheer up!

I can separate the 4 travelling merc groups spawn from the HVTs, so you can disable them while retaining everything else.

Many thanks for the update! Now we can choose the version most suited to our playstyle and cutomize it by enabling or disabling features, this is what makes a great mod perfect. Kudos to you, my friend!

Bit of a bug I found, one time I was 'Accepted' by the Legion and got 'Caesars favor', killed a few in order to hire Gannon and then got 'Caesars Hire' after which the boxes holding the Denarius only have 2 of them, when I got back to 'Accepted' for Favor again, the other 3 were there but not the 2 that were there initially.

This next bit I used the console to try and debug, I enabled the missing 2 boxes and got the denarius but next time I went there for the quest they were all just gone.

Thats really a vanilla bug. Long before I made this mod I only got 2-3 boxes in Caesars Favor when I was idolized, every time.

Found another odd thing, legion related as well.

The Legionnaires added by this mod do not drop Legion Ears during 'An Ear to the Ground' given by Private Sexton in Camp Forlorn Hope.

This is a great mod, I was looking for the bounty hunter experience without overcomplicated quests or non-vanilla voice acting, and the bribery system is a very needed addition.
That been said, I think there's a serious issue with balance: I'm doing a "realism" playthrough with Jsawyer Ultimate, Hardcore mode and custom economy tweaks and this mod simply gives too much. The HTR version is a good start, but HVTs rewards and items, general supplies and challenges can make you seriously OP. To put things into perspective, with Jsawyer I'll have a final total health of about 300, one of the challenges of this mod gives me an increase of 250, almost doubling it, plus thousands of extra xp and items, 10% extra damage vs everything, tier 5 weapons... boy, have you been generous!
It's not a big deal for a regular playthrough, if you don't mind be OP (you already are in vanilla, in my opinion), but be warned if you go for a more simulative/realistic run.
I managed to tinker with it in FNVEdit nerfing money rewards for HVTs and disabling the challenges, but I don't know exactly how to change various item rewards and the like, so, if you would, a more restrictive version more suited for hardcore players would be greatly appreciated.
Just to give you a little feedback, great work anyway, it really complemented my load order in a fantastic way.

Hey, I have all the files installed and I have the shack in my game, but I can't enter the door? It just doesn't give me a command prompt. I think it may be conflicting with another mod, so can I just get the name of the shacks cell so I can coc command myself in and out?
