don't call this an fps enhancement mod, its not. this is literally just a text document explaining how someone with inept computer skills could manually change certain aspects of the game through the files. you could've just put this as a forums post instead of misleading people to think this is a mod that will automatically fix the various issues they could be having with their game.
No no, OP's got a point, since the GOG version has a launcher where you can adjust graphical settings, and the in-game menu itself has some similar features. Basically this is for people too lazy to even read what each function does.
I've been fiddling with lots of Anti Stutter mods and Performance fixes recently. Most worked really well, i got upto 120 fps with one, but after 5-10 minutes it kept crashing every time.
So I tried this solution (Without editing the options at the bottom of the instructions) and now i get a steady 80-92fps no matter where I am in the Wasteland, and the best part? NO CRASHING. This fix definitely works, just don't be expecting anything over 100fps.
if you're on windows 10 or higher and using stutter remover you are supposed to disable bhooklightcriticals in the ini file or something so it doesn't crash you're game
when editing the FALLOUT.INI file, I had an issue with saving. I can't overwrite it. EDIT: Nevermind, just disabled it being read only and then re-enabled it after saving.
One thing this does is turn off the presentation interval, which means it doesn't wait on the vertical blank. While that's fine for rather slow machines, there are some issues that can arise. If your computer gets better than 60 FPS in dialogue when nothing is moving. having the presentation interval set to 0 and using no vblank on the nvidia settings will allow the game to run faster than 60 FPS... which has the odd side effect of the NPCs flapping their lips faster. So in dialogue, the lips will finish before the spoken parts - quite a bit before if you get much better than 60 FPS in dialogue.
If you're one of those people that gets a bit under 60 FPS in the game, but over 60FPS in dialogue, leave the presentation interval set to 1, and set the nvidia vblank to adaptive. That will allow you to go faster when less than 60 FPS, but cap it at 60 FPS when it could have gone faster.
Note that going faster than 60FPS in the game itself can result in Havok going crazy, so you really need the game capped at 60FPS.
Meteor614 they probably meant vsync (if you have a 60hz monitor) or you can use max frame rate to limit fps to 60. Both settings can be located in nvidia control panel, "Manage 3d Settings" menu. If you have an AMD gpu I can't tell you where those settings are, haven't fiddled with an AMD gpu in a while
I followed the instructions reducing the values ??to a minimum. and it helped me a lot. want a place to test? go (strip) and see for yourself. I've been playing for 30 hours and it doesn't have any defects. I see comments criticizing, and I wonder if they used the mod.
I followed your instructions, and it significantly reduced lag in my game. I even tested your changes with several test characters, including a gunfight with the convicts at Primm! While there was still some occasional lag, the results were still MUCH better than in my previous gameplay!
Begging your pardon, but this is not a mod. It is a text file. This site has an article section for this purpose, which you should have used. I'm not going to comment on the content of said text file, which is controversial, to say the least.
It helps with performance, doesn't it? A mod is short for modification. I MODified the game files to help with performance and FPS, therefore I would like to call this a performance - mod. It doesn't matter how or what the "mod" is. Its function is the main reason you're downloading it. So in my eyes, if a 2kb txt file works and helps boost your performance issues, it is a mod.
Literally every mod is just lines of text, or a few audio files, or a couple of tweaks. We're gatekeeping what a "mod" is, now? I agree, it's easier to make the changes yourself, but this is a mod.
Mods dont alter your files. I have to agree this isnt a mod. Its a tweak that belongs in the a forum or other thread. Im not making any of these kinds of alterations thanks! I'll uninstall the game before I do that.. easiest fix for my problem!
About "uGridsToLoad" it is not a good idea to change the default value "5" Why? Imagine that you are standing on a grid, the value of "5" indicates that everything will be loaded around you with the exception of what is behind. To clarify if the value is less than "5" when you move to some part of the grid that was not previously loaded, it will have to be loaded at the time you move to it, and this will obviously bring micro cuts in the movement. Hey! Thanks for the response. I am not a GREAT mod author, but I try my best. With that being said, in the previous game I've modded (Fallout 4), the uGridsToLoad is able to be modified, with the only game-changing fix, is the performance boost. I understand that these two games are different, but I assumed that the two modifications mean the exact same, since they were using the same engine. Obviously you know what you are talking about, so I will update the mod shortly, to comply with these. Thank you for the response of wisdom!
it's not the same engine, every new game the engine changes drastically, don't make that mistake. and how are you able to delete comments ? i can't delete any comments on my mods..

Thank you very much for your instructions! :D
